I think this thread needs re-titling, perhaps to "Cheapest flight USA-Europe?"

You'll need to talk about the dates, the competition, and how much charter traffic is on the route. Certain times of the year, especially the non-tourist season, will be significantly less expensive than the same flight at other times.

Technically, the shortest would be Boston-Rekjavik, but that is no guarantee. You might start from there.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the same, but give him his due, his flag is Mexican so we're not talking in a native tongue.

From the UK to America the cheapest fares are with US Airways, £260 return, but I also seem to remember seeing that there were some very cheap flights going into DUS, I think that was with Continental from EWR. Best thing is to just keep shopping around, several hours on the web could save you a lot of bucks!!

From Europe-Canada-Europe... I've just found £250 from LGW-YYZ-LGW with Zoom. Check them out at www.flyzoom.com or check out Globespan I know they have good prices.

DE has oneway flights starting from 99€ inkl taxes (which are actually available).
US destinations served are LAS, RSW, MCO.
www.condor.com

LTU advertises its US flights starting from 248 USD
http://www.ltu.de/docs/us/index.jsp

With both airlines you´ll be dropped at some german airport.

It depends. Fares change daily and even hourly. You can get a r/t ticket for as low as $400 incl. taxes to the UK or Ireland depending of the day and month of travel with CO.

Remember there are pieces of Europe (France and the Netherlands) in the Caribbean -- SXM is in the EU, for example.  Wink

Anything between SEA and Europe in the winter...no one wants to be on either end between October and April!

Jokes aside...airfares between SEA and LHR/AMS/CPH are pretty low during the winter.

*Edit* English teachers worldwide are reeling at this thread title!

Almost. Overseas territories are not in the EU, but French Départements d'Outre-Mer - (DOM) are. St. Maarten doesn't qualify, but Martinique and Guadaloupe do.

New York City to Europe in the winter is pretty cheap.

Icelandair offers low fares all the time from all of their gateways.

It just depends on the competitive environment in a particular city.
Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.

The Condor flights are actually not incl. taxes, You have to calculate with about 330€ return (99€+99€ fare + 132€ taxes)

I once flew BRU-JFK-BRU for just €300 but it was in 2001... I also flew BRU-IAD-LAS-IAD-BRU in march for €440 all in with UA, not bad at all I think  Wink Maybe hard to find but you can expect fares between €350-400 for the East Coast here in Europe...

However, the fact that something belongs to EU does not mean the same thing as being part of Europe.

He was asking USA-Europe, not USA-EU.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Greenland a colony of Denmark but part of North America? Wouldn't there be an inexpensive flight from from say Scoresbysund Greenland to Reykjavik IceLand?

I dont want to be in SEA anytime. But your comment about EU is incorrect. Sure Germany and northern Eu suck this time of year but FCO,MAD,and ATH are just fine.

JFK-DUB with Aer Lingus from $169 excluding taxes and charges. With taxes and charges it's $190.
Aer Lingus did offer this flight for $99 about two weeks ago!
