Have A Cabin Crew Member Asked You For A Date?

Sun Nov 26, 2006 7:15 am

It happened to me once on a US airliner on its way to Europe.
The female cabin crew member came to my seat and asked
very quiet if we not could meet at the destination. I said that
i do not live in that city so it would be difficult... So she smiled
anyway and went back in the galley. Outside the terminal after
landing did she come back to me and asked again but i sad no.

GUYS! YOU LIVE ONLY ONCE. DO NOT MAKE MY MISSTAKE.

SAY YES!

I have had 2 different crew members ask for my phone number during the flights.

I gave it to both them and was also asked for my e-mail, I still keep in touch with them, but date wise no  Smile

heu, should this topic be here ? non aviation maybe ?

anyhoo, yes I did. though this did not happen on the flight...he was my FA on the flight to CDG from the US. Then we bumped into each other in Paris, and its at this second meeting that he asked me.
We lived happily ever after (no just kidding, it lasted a couple/few weeks...)

I suppose its very delicate for an FA to ask a pax for a date.

yes, a) coz rejection could be quite embarrassing for both pax and FA
b) its unprofessional
c) some airlines would discipline an FA for doing that.

But all good, best way to date a FA is to either be a FA or a pilot.  Wink

I have been asked for it a number of times, and I've also asked a few for theirs.

90%+ of them resulted in at least a few drinks, if not more...

When I was 18 and enlisted in the Navy in 2002, I used to wear my dress uniform on my flights when I visit my parents on certain ocassions, Thanksgiving holiday, Xmas holiday, Veteran's Day, etc. Used to get alot of attention from the flight attendents when I'm on board. Never been asked on a date when I travel, it doesn't bother me becuase they're 30 years older then me. I get alot of thank you's for serving on the PA system so every passengers knows.

Funny as a male Flight Attendant I often am asked for "dates" by married business men. I find it quite amusing.

I was once given a bottle of wine by an FA on an AC flight YVR-YYZ for being BOB (best on board) i.e. the best looking man in business class on that flight.

I was mildly flattered, although also appalled that my tax dollars (at the time) would be used so cavalierly (word?) by a horned up FA to complement me. (AC was then partially goverment-owned and supported).

I much prefer to be hit on by women NOT on the government purse. Luckily, there are many thereof.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Most crew members I've spoken to have said that they generally don't ask out passengers onboard or at the airport, due to the possible ramifications. If they see a passenger outside of the airport, though, they pretty much treat it as fair game (hotel shuttle, etc.). That said, I know that the relatively young pilots at many regional airlines pretty much go hog wild when they're on layovers. One of the best pickup lines in existence? "I'm a pilot for (blank) airlines." The average woman doesn't know they only make 25K a year!

Back in '82 when I was with Best Airlines, an FA asked me for a date. I said yes, but it didn't go farther than the hotel room that night. I kinda find it weird that FA's would go out of their way while they're on the job to get a date with a passenger.

Being a pilot makes quite a difference on the newer, younger FA's. Once they get used to pilots, the attraction goes away, I guess. All the FA attention I've gotten was from younger, new FA's. That was when I was also young!  Wink

I've had a couple FAs (and a couple gate agents, and a really attractive pax next to me in F) get a little flirty with me from time to time.

Unfourtinately, I'm very slow in that department, so it's usually not until several hours later that what happens register and I start kicking myself.

I think that helps to explain why I'm single at my age.

flying back to the maldives on SQ, im usually the only single male on the plane (its like noahs ark, all couples going on honeymoon) and Im always given at least 1 phone number or email from the f/as, who I guess can clearly see im single (or recently jilted at the altar!) on LH to BKK, a female F/A gave me not one but two bottles of wine, with her mobile number scribbled on the label. and on an ansett flight to PER in 2000, a canadian FA took the empty seat next to me and gave me her number.

I've gotten a couple numbers from F/a's working trips, usualy they chat it up first and see what happens... I've also gotten a couple passenger numbers over the years after chatting with them... I'd say not that uncommon.. hey if your away on business, why not meet a friendly face for drinks...

I get a lot of phone numbers when I'm sitting in F, occasionally in C, only one ever in Y. One FA (who remembered me from a previous flight) even invited me to the lav, but she was 20+ years older and 20+ kg heavier than me, so I politely declined. Over the years, I've dated 3 stewardesses and have little interest in doing so again. In a nutshell: high maintenance.

Didn't get a number, but on a flight from Europe to EWR this summer something funny happened, a FA recognized me. I could not remember that I'd seen her before, not at that moment. It came to me after a few minutes. I had been on the same flight ONE year earlier and she was serving bizfirst. I started to wonder if I had done something very stupid on that flight, but I guess it was other reasons. She was very nice and pretty, but not something for me, I only like scandinavian girls!

Early 1989 on a Friday night hop on SQ TPE-LAX via HNL on a 747-300. I was upstairs on the Big Top sitting in an exit row opposite the FA. We chatted regularly on the flight, friendly stuff, and I didn't think much of it until we were on our approach to HNL where we would get a crew change. She said she and a bunch of the girls were going out to the north shore that afternoon and wanted to know if I was debarking in HNL. I said no, I had to be back in LA for Saturday meetings. She winked at me and said "are you sure you need to be back?"

And I, the loyal 25 year-old corporate type, continued the flight to LA.

When I was flying Mesa for America West once the fa, who was at least kind of cute gave me her number with my drink, though sadly at the time I was involved, so I did not call it.

I do have to say though, when I'm up in C (though, to be fair, it is domestic C most of the time) the FAs seem much more interested... and I've had a few take an empty seat next to me or just stand around and flirt for a while, a couple have suggested we get drinks or something on the ground.... amazing how well sitting in the front of the plane works, especially as a young guy.

It has happend to me a few times. Once on DL on my flight from ATL to GRU. Did not turn out to be anything because I was only in GRU for 3 hours till my flight to MAO.

Another on HP on my flight from PHX to FAT. Nothing came out of that one. I just was not interested at the moment because of prior commitment to a ladie.

Last one was on AE from ORD to STL by an very attactive FA. Comes to find out she lives in Michigan in the same city I did. So it worked out for about a month and a half. Then I moved back to California where she put in a trasfer to LAX and did not work out. But, I am moving back to Michigan and all will be well  Wink Big grin

The closest I have come to this was on a flight from JFK to DTW on NW. On the day that I was on this flight I was wearing my blue and white KLM Royal Dutch Airlines T-shirt. One of the female FA's saw me boarding the flight and did a double take on my shirt. As the flight arrived at DTW, pax were deboarding and as I was exiting the plane, she said to me "I Like Your T-shirt" I thanked her for her compliment and I wish I had more time to talk to her, however, I had to make a connecting flight. She was also cute.  Wink

So, if you are on A.net, I was the person you gave the compliment to.

More than a Pepsi was being offered................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several years ago I was on a late night flight from MSP to YEG. I was a bit bored so I was visiting with the FA's in the forward galley of a NWA DC-9. After about a half hour or so of visiting, the friendliest one of the FA's asked me if I wanted a drink. I asked for a Pepsi. As she handed me the Pepsi, she asked me to pour it down the front of her pants! I couldn't believe it! After a few awkward moments on my part, she asked again! She then mentioned something about having a lengthy layover in YEG! Being the shy, conservative guy that I was a the time, I ultimately declined, went back to my seat, and drank my Pepsi. One of my main concerns was that perhaps she wouldn't have an extra change of clothes with her - DUHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It happened to me once on KLM from AMS-BEY on KLM 407, I belive it was on a 738. A blonde cute girl in her early 20s asked me...just to let you know, I am only 15. It seems that I look older than I really am. But, I just told her that I already have a girlfriend and she said OK. What's really funny is that towards the end of the flight she asked the person in front of me the same question she asked me, "Would you like to see each other sometime?"

Yes, but I was working with them. I'd never ask a pax though. I just think it's tacky to pick up on a customer. Although from the right guy I don't mind being asked for my number. Unfortunately the right guy has never asked. Seems like the ones who ask me are either way too young or married. Now when I'm traveling on my own time...I've met two great guys that way.

If you spend enough years in this business, it's bound to happen to everyone at one point or another...

How you deal with it depends of course on your common sense, morals and your marital status. I've had a few very pleasant long haul flights in which I was able to get to know some very nice and exceptionally attractive F/As during their break time (when I was an NRSA). I have been out with them on a few occasions, but have never taken them home or vice versa. It was damn tempting in my 20s, but in my mid 40s now...I'm a little wiser. Doesn't mean I don't go to a good crew party every once in a while. These are great folks and a lot of fun to be around and a privilege to be with when they are working and when they are not.

Best line I ever heard was on Valentine's Day one year, on a short (2-hour) flight. Walked out of the lav into the galley, which was empty, and was about to grab something to eat or drink when a young FA showed up. I said, "oh hi, is it OK if I take one of those?" and she said, "anything I have that you want, you can have."

On the last leg of a long CPT-JNB-FRA-IST trip with LH, I was seated at the emergency exit of the 321. Next to me was a good looking Dutch FA with whom I chatted during take off. After the service he invited me to the galley and we chatted a bit more... He asked me if I was doing anything that evening and I said I was absolutely free (All I wanted was to sleep after some 15 hours of flying though). I took him out for a few drinks and and showed him my stamp collection in my apartment. He loved my stamp collection so much that he still calls when he has a layover in IST  Wink

I've had a male attendant asked for my number from SFO-NRT on UA and I had to decline because I was 17  biggrin . The other time from LAX-TPE on CI and this time was the pilot from Germany... Wow! I had to decline this time because he was 20 years older than me.

1990 when I was flying ARN-JFK-LAX on PA a f/a guy asked me if we could meet in NYC later that day, but I said "I´m on my way to LA" so needless to say the date was cancelled but I got his phonenumber.

Btw, he was a goodlooking knock out named Jeff!

I had a good laugh when I read this response! You are certainly not the first person to doubt this story after I told it. This is the first time I've repeated it on A.net, but certainly not the first time I've repeated it. Perhaps I should take a second job as a writer for "Penthouse Variations!?" The responses I've received over the years have varied widely from "Yah right!" to "Can you find out what flight she's working next!?". The story is 100% true, and was certainly a highlight of that particular trip for me, being that I was only about 20 years old at the time. If I had only been a bit more brave...........

By the way - very nice homepage with interesting photos "Jetjack74"! Perhaps the fact that my story occured on a NWA flight was of particular personal interest to you as it seems you do/did work for NWA. Perhaps if a NWA FA ever offers you a "Pepsi and ............" you'll then believe my story!

We'll dispence with all the usual "was she easy" jokes

No pulling of FA's here because their all usually quite old (not that I mind a drop of vintage) on transatlantic flights, anyone else find that?

Never while flying...
I've been from wanting to date one to trying to avoid them at all cost... But somehow I always end up with them, and even married to one... (no, I didn't meet her when she was on duty).
Hooked up with some F/As during their layovers in the past...
I still get called by one I never got to date (and she doesn't know I'm married yet).

I know one F/A who'd "prey" on desperate guys with money... and some are saints... but most are just fun to have around.

In the end, the best way to seek and/or be seeked is not on a plane.

I flirted around with a flight attendant last winter while my girlfriend and I were on a break. It was an Aer Lingus flight HAM-DUB, and the flight attendant was ridiculously cute. I ended up getting her number but I was leaving for the USA the next morning, so I never saw her or talked to her again. I still have that number around somewhere...

Funny thread... When I was 25 and flying in first class I was on a AA flight to Puerto Rico then on to SXM, a gorgeous flight attendant asked me if I had been on her last flight. Being the intoxicated pax that I was (Hey, those drinks are free up there and I was on vacation) I said unless it was from ORD. After I got off I realized that she didn't care where I came from and in fact she was trying to pick me up. What a moron I was!  drunk
