A lot depends on the airline and it's product.

But with my experience, speaking of econo class, I find the B747 very uncomfortable as it's too crowded for my liking. The B767 was a very comfortable cabin and the A340 has by far the quietest.

Comfortable - A340-300
Least - Cri Cri (forget the spelling but look it up) I sat in one when my father had the great idea of buying it, having fun with it then giving it to me so i could build some multi time. HAHA. Well so far I am still without it.

The most uncomfortable airliner I've been on is the EMB-145. I've ridden with several different operators and that narrow cabin and the hard seats make it a groaner for me.
Since the seat pitch and seat width are the option of the operators, it's hard to say which other airliner is the most comfortable.
I've ridden on Singapore Airlines in the A340, the 747-400, and the 777-200 and they all are more comfortable than any other operator that I've flown with.

I'd have to say the 777 is pretty comfortable on the 2 seat sides

Most uncomfortable that I've been on has to be the CR2 and the J41

The most uncomfortable was definetly the Pinnacle CRJ I was on.

The most comfortable, a tie between the BA A319 and the UA Express CRJ-700. Very comfortable seats.

Different airlines have different configs. AA and UA have 2-5-2, most others have 3-3-3. There even is 2-4-3 on MD-11s (but not as far as I know on B777s).

what do you think ?

I really don't think you know what you're talking about. An aircraft itself is not comfortable or uncomfortable. It all has to do with how the airline configures the interior.

Quoting N231YE (Reply 15):
767-400ER

Is that just because it is your favorite aircraft or what? On DL, economy is the same all around, but up in Biz, there is more pitch on a 763 and a 772 than their 764. The same goes for CO, minimal difference in economy, while more space up front on their 762 and 772.

I don't mean to sound rude or like I am attacking anyone, but a majority of this thread is just all wrong. An aircraft is not just comfortable or uncomfortable, props excluded, it completely depends on the carrier. Therefore just naming off an aircraft without pairing it to an airline sounds not only uneducated, but extremely opinionated as to what your favorite and least favorite aircraft in general are.

CRJ-100/200 is the most uncomfortable for me. Even in the exit rows (I can't remember the last time I didn't get an exit row on this plane), it's bad.

As for most comfortable, I'm only going to compare Y (since basically, a Y seat is a Y seat, discounting gimmicks like PTVs etc) - I enjoy the M80 and the 767; I really like the 2-person side, as I'm a window guy and that means only climbing over one person.

Most stupid post? This here. Comfort usually does not depend on the aircraft (besides noise perhaps). Example: I find the AVROs of LX with 5 abreast very comfortable but the ones of LH Cityline with 6 a horror. So when somebody says a MD 11 is uncomfortable but a 330 is comfortable, so this is utter bullshit. It only depends on the airline, the seats, the legroom and width.

Totally disagree, in November I flew the DC-10 MSP-HNL-MSP and it was one of the quietest aircraft that i have been on, and it was actually quite comfortable.

Most Uncomfortable: Any regional jet.

Comfortable: DC-10, DC-9

Most comfortable:

SQ 777, CX A340, BD ERJ 135/145, Pegasus 737-800 (exit row)

I actually thing the Beech 1900C is one of the more comfortable airliners I've flown - hardly any people, soft leather seats and decent leg room! Sure it's a little cramped but you're only on it for half an hour so what does it matter?

Most uncomfortable:

SQ 744, NZ Saab 340 (just really rattly), any UK charter airline!

Malaysia/CX 744s were actually pretty comfortable, the SQ one was old and battered, as well as being really cramped.

Uncomfortable: sitting in a C172 seat for over 2 hours without being able to move much.

Comfortable: anything that has a lavatory I can use, and any seat that reclines and that I can move around in a bit.

Most Confotable for me was 777-200 on AA always a good amount of room I like it. Also a plane which I find very nice is ERJ-135 on American Eagle flew it on IAD-MIA and it was great, but only if you the get single seat row, I could not imagine flying in seats B or C.

Most uncomfortable for me has to be ATR-42 for American Eagle, atleast its only a 45 minute flight to NAS. As Jetliners most of pretty good for me, but I found that FL 717 has horrible seats.

Can we include aircraft with a jump seat? Big grin

I'd suggest the Embraer EMB120 jumpseat for most uncomfortable commercial aircraft - ouch. The airplane is certainly decent enough... just the jumpseat is particularly 'interesting'.

While you do have a valid point, I was in no way comparing the seats. An HA 717 is not similar to XY's Signature Service 717, obviously. However, I really like the Boeing signature interior, as found on the 764, the ventilation, as well as the 7-abreast seating (I believe that cannot be changed). On the flip side, I hated the NW DC-10. I thought it was poorly ventilated (it seemed hot and stuffy), and the interior seemed lame. I was also not fond of the 9-abreast seating.

trust me....anyone who thinks they have had an uncomfortable flight needs to come to the uk and fly on one of our charters!lol they are notorious cattle carts!

try a monarch A300, 9 abreast with 361 (!!!!!) seats!

or the dreadfull 9 abreast A330's with mytravel and Thomas cook!

if the leg room was decent, 9 abreast on airbus widebodies would be fine for the most part. However, combined with a 29" seat pitch, its unbearable!

last year i flew to florida on Aer lingus instead of a charter for a change. Even though the pitch was "only" 32", it felt like heaven to me!lol!  Smile plebs like me can only fly charters or no-frills 95% of the time!

Most comfortable: Any jet in business or first at FL390

Uncomfortable:
I have been on Emirates B777 which had 3-4-3, very narrow seats, not nice.
Though everything else was from good to excellent.
Finnair B757 charters - hard to find a comfortable charter I guess.

Comfortable:
Finnair A320, great seats.

It is hard to choose the most comfortable, so much depends on the cabin class, age of aircraft and carrier. However, I would probably choose the "point" of a 747, for example F class with SQ, as the most peaceful and comfortable, since with other aircraft (777, 340 etc) the front cabin is still in a "corridor"....

However, for me, the most uncomfortable is very easy to choose - the Yakovlev 40. I used to take this from Beijing to Lianyungang in the mid 1990s when the flight was operated by GP (China General Provincial Aviation, which has since disappeared and been absorbed into China Eastern). It was a single class Y cabin, cramped and horrible. That said, there was lots of "character" !! I don't know what happened to these aircraft since.

Interesting, I found the Virgin Atlantic A346 in economy to be very uncomfortable namely due to the gap between the window and my seat...

Oh and worst...anything Ryanair. Funny cause I never had a problem with 737's of any model before...

But I digress
