dont forget about DXB/TPE..........if you were to take a look at our IAH-LGW flights, many times almost 1/2 the airplane is connecting to DXB on EK.....same goes for our evening flights to SFO/LAX......many many connecting pax to TPE on BR

Good point! I'm not to informed on a/c distance abilities, but I thought DXB was to far?
TPE and other destinations would be good depending upon their options on the additional 20 787.

Welcome! Nice to have you here  bigthumbsup

It seems to me that EWR pretty much has a monopoly on the Europe routes with the 757 and what not. From IAH requires a heavy on that route, and it seems CO has used them all up. However, FRA, MXP, might not be out of the question. It would require at least another 762, 772, 787, etc. When the 787s come, expansion may be seen. There are multiple threads about EK coming to IAH, with one starting about once a week. I hope CLE gets a little expansion, though. Maybe MAN, or some other route that the 757 can do. I know CLE-LGW is pushing the range, but we shall see. However, EWR with the 757s are the cash cows, so I doubt they will double up a lot of the Europe routes out of EWR. Same with Asia out of EWR. A lot of flights #s continue on, IIRC, so there is, in a sense, direct (just not nonstop) flights.

Welcome also!

I would like to throw in 1x TOL-IAH on an ERJ-145X. I know they are removing planes from the Express side which pretty much kills this chance but I think with the relationship the Andersons and Marathon Oil (heck all oil companies), it would be a pretty good performer. Not to mention Marathon has a huge presence in Findlay. I can dream right?  Smile

Perhaps IAH/EWR-LOS, say 2/3 times a week? There's a lot of money to be made with oil business and Houston's Nigerian community is huge. If they cooperate with Virgin Nigeria, perhaps connections to the rest of Africa could be made?

If my memory is correct, there is a lot of bad blood there. Since CO and VS codeshare on transatlantic, it might be possible.

IAH-LOS would be a great route for the 762. There are a lot of potential routes from IAH. It is fun to speculate. In my opinion, other long-haul cities that have great potential from IAH are: SCL, MAD, HKG, and DXB. Mainland China would be great, but since US-China authorities are so restricted, it isn't going to happen for a while. SXM would be nice, as would Maracaibo, Merida, and other smaller cities in South America.

There is so much potential from Houston-IAH for international flights, is it not kinda in the middle of everything last I checked??

Things will probably get interesting once the 787s come online - sidenote - wasn't there a thread on here that IAH-MCO-EWR was going to be the first 787 route for crew training?

1. They don't have the planes
2. They don't have the rights to fly to China other then their current service.

I believe MAD and FRA have been rumoured, once more long haul aircraft arrive. Not sure if Rome or Moscow would have the demand, and I would certainly expect EWR-Moscow before IAH-Moscow

Alos, once they get extra long haul aircraft, IAH-MAN could also be a possibilty. And heres another one - IAH-ABZ - there is huge oil traffic between the two cities and the ABZ authorities are realy keen to get such a service started. However it would need a BBJ to be a success (a B767 being too big). Would CO ever consider a transatlantic BBJ service?

Do CO even serve Seoul from EWR? Probably one for SkyTeam partner Korean Air. If they could get the slots, I would expect CO would like to start IAH-NRT however

Lagos - would probably do great with oil traffic. Not too sure on Sydney though

AMS would be good on a B757, especially with KLM's hub to connect into

If CO started IAH-DXB, wouldn't it annoy EK or is that relationship not important to CO?
