No idea on the airline or airport but BDL-Washington DC, May-89. So either US, UA or EA.

Easern Airlines Shuttle (EWR-DCA), a Connie, Spring 1963. Fare was $14.00, put luggage on a cart at the bottom of the stairs, and paid on the plane once in the air.

my VERY 1st flight was on N2680S, a Cessna 337 Skymaster in 1968. a friend of my grandfather took my grandfather, my mom and myself up for a joyride from CLE to the west near Sandusky and back. i was hooked from that point on.

my first airliner ride came back in December 1975, CLE-TPA-CLE, on a United DC-10 in the Friendship scheme.

Talking commercial?...
My first would be before I could remember. though I'm told it was an USAir flight (727 or 732) PIT-DFW Age 1-2 yrs

Personally??
A Cherokee DTO-DTO discovery flight at the age of 18 or 19 VERY cool. Cost me 40 Bucks but well worth it. Basically it involved simple maneuver's over Lake Ray Hubbard and a return to land. I was in control the whole time. (minus rudder during taxi, and throttle during landing) AWESOME!
I'd like to thank me for flying Me Airways...

I traveled to the LAX area in 1979 when I was 2 years old, and don't remember any of it.

First one I remember was BDL - CVG, on a DL 727 in Feb 1989

1975 - Hughes Airwest DC9 from Las Vegas to Lewiston ID, with stops in Twin Falls and Boise. I was 3 years old, and my dad was a ramp agent for RW. I still remember all the toys the flight attendants used to give you to keep you entertained. Flying was completely a different ball game then compared to now.

US flight# 1 (I think)

I grew up near PIT in the heyday of USAir.

Late July Early August 1969 BOAC Vickers Super VC10 from BDA (Bermuda) to JFK (New York) What a trip.

My mother decided about 3 days before to fly out to visit relatives in Long Island. We were late arriving at the airport and the aircraft had already pushed of the stand. They had to stop and push the steps back to the plane for us to board.

I was only 7 at the time and 3 days seemed so far off for my first trip off "De Rock"

Also remember getting a BOAC Junior Jet Club Log Book during a cockpit visit. What a lot of buttons and gauges!

Lost count of my trips since then as I definately caught the "travel Bug"

I was in the first or second grade so had to be 1961 or '62. LAX to SFO and back on a PSA Lockheed Electra II. Rode Electras several times in the sixties on PSA and Western between LAX, SFO, SAC, RNO, and LAS.

First ride in a jet would've been 1966 or '67. Can't remember now - either LAX to LAS on a Western Boeing 720B, or LAS to LAX and back on a Bonanza DC-9. Remember the DC-9's N-number though - N945L. Funny how memory works, or doesn't work.

Hi

My first flight was on July 1992 on the route EZE-SSA on board a Varig 737-300 (I guess it was PP-VOE or PP-VOD). We departed at night and that experience triggered my fanatism for aviation.

Cheers!

June 1971.

American Airlines 747, LAX to JFK. Had a window seat. Connected to Pilgrim Airlines, plane type unknown, for a flight to New London, CT. Don't remember much else, as I was flying to report to the Coast Guard Academy.

Didn't expect so many "firsts" before mine... some even before I was born!  Smile

My first flight was 15-min "sightseeing" one in Riga in 1973, from/to Spilve airport. Aircraft - An2, my only piston-engine one, and my only biplane...

...In less than 30 years I flew supersonically. I'm afraid, next 30 years will bring nothing even close to such a leap  Smile. Sigh...

About November of 1972, I was Mr Hotshot at 12 and made the reservations for me and my grandfather Mem to Mia. Via Southern Airways. The day before the same flight was highjacked to Cuba.

What My grandfather didnt know but i did,the plane had a nice ride to
Mem to Bhm to Atl to Mco then Mia... He was pissed takeing off and landing 4 or 5 times in one day....

He made us come back Delta dc-8 to atl. Then back to mem. Back then you could take any ticket to any airline and they were interchangeable.

We had a lot to learn at Fdx in the early years...My fav the Ys-11 with the RR engines. You older guys bring back some good memories Great contributions from all

HOU-AMA-HOU the summer 1950 with my mother and sister to visit grandparents. Had to go to the bathroom before boarding in AMA and, at 6, was too young to go into the "Mens" alone and young enough (about 6) to go with my mother into the "Ladies" without getting arrested. Can't remember the airline or plane, but it was a prop (obviously) and larger than a DC-3, which I first rode when I was 16.

Ahh not ot be too pickey but there were no turbo prop DCs they were all piston engined. The DC-1,2,3 & 5 were twin pistons and the DC-4,6 & 7 were quad piston engines.

When I was 7 years old... GUA-FRS-GUA on good ole' Aviateca, in March or April 1991; don't know the exact date, but I remember it was Palm Sunday. Aircraft was either a 732 or a 733. I remember the f/a gave me a magic screen (one of those little toys where you could draw, then lift the screen to erase your drawing and start all over again) to keep me entertained. Ahh, those were the times...

My first flight, I was told, was on a United Stratocruiser in the early 50's, don't even know from where to where. We would have left Vancouver, BC on another flight to connect in Seattle to wherever we were going. Did they fly the Stratocruiser from SEA to SFO or LAX? or maybe HNL. At any rate, I was an infant and don't recall, unfortunately both parents are dead so can't ask them.

The first flight that I remember, was also UA on a Convair from YVR-SEA, that would have been in 1954, to connect to a UA flight from SEA-LAX on a DC6 that stopped in PDX, OAK and SFO. In those days, a whole day to get from YVR-LAX, which takes 2 1/2 hrs. now!

Cheers,

Quoting JetJeanes (Thread starter):
What was one of your first flights and the aircraft you flew and what year.

My first flight was in a DC3 from BGI to GND, I was 14 at the time and was going to GND to meet my Mum who was working down there. Never forget the landing, as we landed on the beach and then rolled on to the runway, and on take off you had a rope attached the the tail wheel so you could build up take off speed, because you headed straight for a mountain and if you missed the TO speed you would hit it. Once you you start rolling than you reached ratation point then a hard left to avoid the mountain, then over the sea and away you went. Remember this was in 1961 and civil aviation was just beginning in the Caribbean
