Wed Jan 17, 2007 6:18 am

If you had a choice for a spotting/photography trip where would you go?

1) Asia SIN, HKG, KUL etc.

2) Australia/NZ SYD, MEL, AKL etc.

3) Europe FRA, AMS, MAD etc.

4) Russia/Former Soviet Union MOW, LED, TLL etc.

5) S. America GRU, GIG, EZE, SCL etc.

Well, it depends of the kind of bird you want to catch.

If you want action proximity, I think ZRH is a must: fantastic terrace + direct access to the runway by bus.

Something to see once in a life, for sure!

Based on pictures that I viewed recently, I would like to put in category
1b) Asia: NGO, NRT, and some more places in Japan

If it is a question of people as well as planes then Singapore's Changi Airport has to be high on the list. It is one of THE great aeriel cross roads of the world.

It greatly depends in what you want to see. If you're only going somewhere for the fun of it, it is difficult to say where you should go. I'd opt for either Amsterdam or Manchester in Europe as they are both very colorful and offer a great mix of traffic. If you like to be close to the action, go to Zurich. If you like bizjets, go to Luton...

My next spotting holiday will most likely bring me to Manchester.  Smile

Cheers

I'd go for Russia myself. If you wait for a few years, then you are going to be looking at A320's and B737s, which you can do now at just about any large airport in the world, however in Russia you can be looking at Yaks, Ilyushin's, Antonovs, Tupolevs and probably much more! These will be gone in a few years, the Tu134's are rapidly disappearing, as will many of the 154's soon.

Do it while you can! yes
