Avoid Certain Airlines Due To Terror Threat?

Thu Jan 18, 2007 6:07 am

Just wondered how many A netters avoid certain carriers due to the fact that they may be a target??? Do you think that certain carriers are less of a target than others??? For example would you avoid BA or AA if the terror threat was red???

don't need the color to be red to avoid flying AA, delta, northwest, etc. deadly anytime of the year, fake terrorism panic or not

Works the other way around though. I know someone who after Lockerbie had a London New York flight booked on Pan Am and his wife was really worried about the alert, but he pointed that at that point in time(think it was Jan/Feb '89) Pan Am was probably the most secure airline across the Atlantic given what happened.

I have flown BA in the middle of terror alert and at same time, I knew someone flying at the same time on the same route only on Virgin and they had a lot less security. National Carriers are more prone to terror alerts, but I guess in the USA it's a bit different as there ins't really a national airline.

I'm really not disturbed by terror threats, they will not make me change my plans, I would never give them that satisfaction of making me scared. Even if I was on a BA flight and one BA plane was blown up, think of the odds that I am on that exact flight, it's remote, not impossible, but highly unlikely. I'd probably have a 1% chance of being unlucky at most.

True, no doubt about it. But I do believe AA, UA, BA, etc are the prime targets for Middle Eastern Muslim terrorists who hate Christians, and most of all the US. I just hope we do not have another PA103.

Huh, that doesn't make any sense. Other then AA most people don't really recognize DL or NW as main US carriers.

I wouldn't hesitate, most of the time its just a hoax, and as someone said, the security is going to be so tight that nothing will happen anyway.

Red alert means security will be watertight, its when we dont know its coming that we are screwed.

I worry about it being an inside job by airport personnel who live double lives as terrorists. You can't write anything off these days, as crazy as it may sound. Just look at all the Muslim workers that were ordered to resign from CDG last year because of strong suspicions.

The other thing that is worrisome is the fact that not many airports are able to detect plastic explosives. SFO and ATL are a couple of the exceptions. And then there are the explosives that are built inside appliances. For instance, the bomb the brought down PA103 was actually inside a cassette player boom box. It looked just like any other Sony on the outside.
