What Series 737 You Flown On And Your Favourite

Wed Feb 07, 2007 6:51 pm

I've so far flown on the -200, -300, -400, -500, -700 and -800. Most of those too many times to count (most on the 738 but not many times on the -400 and -500). Of those, my favourite is the -200: it is a noisy, fun machine, and a real character.

All of them bar the -100 and the -600

Easily the best one is the -200 but only on short hops to GLA
Otherwise its p*** off annoying

-800 is great for quiet but spacious arrangements

Thanks

I've had the pleasure of flying on 100, 200, 300, 500, 700, 800, 900.

In order of favorites

1. 800 with winglets, if no winglets then 900 wins.
2. 900.
3. 700 with winglets of course.
4. 500 can't wait to see this with winglets soon.
5. 300.
6. 200.
7. 100 only because I don't remember much about them.
Any views shared are strictly my own and do not a represent those of any former employer.

I think I might have also flown on a KL 739 AMS-LHR, but I'll have to double-check when I return home.

Well, I'd have to say the 737-200. No real contest.
Regarding any newer generation 737s, it's the 737-700, hands down!

Have been on flights operated by the following, with 8 different airlines

-200
-300
-400
-500
-700
-800
-900

As for favorites among the 737 variants listed above, my thought is "what's the difference?" All have the same 3x3 seating in Y/Economy and 2x2 in F (or 2x3 in KLM Business class) -- the only noticeable differences I have found are the length of the passenger cabin, hence the total number of pax seats and overwing emergency exit plug-type doors. Otherwise, I have found virtually no difference in legroom and comfort of the seats. My "favorite 737 series" is not about the aircraft but rather whether I was seated in Y or F and the level of onboard service of the airline concerned. My best 737 experience was on a KLM 737-400 in Y on the FRA-AMS route -- the pax experience in Y on any of the KLM 737 types operating flights that same day was probably of equal quality.

RE: What Series 737 You Flown On And Your Favourit

Thu Feb 08, 2007 3:03 am

I have flown on...

737-200 (Delta and United)
737-300 (Southwest, United, US Airways, America West, Frontier Airlines)
737-400 (Alaska, US Airways)
737-500 (CanJet, United, Continental, Southwest)
737-700 (Alaska, Southwest, Continental) with winglets and without
737-800 (RyanAir, Alaska, Continental, American, Delta) w/ winglets and w/out
737-900 (Alaska, Continental)

Out of all of them, my favorite is the 737-700 with winglets. Maybe that is because I have flown it in an actual AS simulator, but it I like it a bunch. Long range, cool looking winglets, and great performance. Not a huge fan of the 2X2 exit row config though.

Order
737-700 (winglets)
737-200 (why not)?
737-500 (that thing hops)
737-900
737-800 (seemed cramped to me)
737-300
737-400

737-700 (Southwest with winglets)

Not sure about:
737-400 (Asiana)
737-800 (Korean Air)

I'd say the 737-300 is my favorite. It's noisier Big grin

I've been on all but the -100, -600, -800, and -900.

I've enjoyed my flights on the -700's a lot. Comfortable plane, and seems to fly great.

-200: Airtran, US Airways, Delta
-300: US Airways
-400: US Airways
-800: Delta

I like the -800 the best, because I like longer aircraft, and it gave a nice takeoff.

Hi!

I flew in the following 737's:

737-100 - D-ABEA - LH - GVA/FRA ( First 737 built for commercial service )
737-200 - G-BGDP - BA - LIS/LGW
737-200 - CS-TEM - TP - LIS/FCO
737-200 - CS-TEP - TP - PDL/LIS
737-200C - OO-SDJ - SN - BRU/CDG
737-300 - N349UA - UA - SEA/LAX
737-300 - G-OGBB - BA - LGW/FAO ( Operated by GB Airways )
737-300 - PP-VQZ - RG - GIG/CWB
737-400 - G-BNNK - BA - FAO/LHR ( Operated by GB Airways )
737-400 - G-BNNL - BA - LGW/FAO ( Operated by GB Airways )
737-400 - N776AU - US - YYZ/CLT
737-500 - PT-MNI - RG - CWB/GIG ( Nordeste Titles )
737-700 - LN-TUI - BU - LIS/OSL ( Full Braathens livery )
737-700 - LN-TUK - BU - OSL/LIS ( Full Braathens livery )
737-700 - N16713 - CO - EWR/BOG ( with winglets )
737-700 - N23707 - CO - BOG/EWR ( with winglets )
737-800 - PH-BXF - KL - LIS/AMS
737-800 - PH-BXM - KL - AMS/LIS

The best one??? CS-TEP from PDL to LIS, at that time PDL still had a short runway, our Capt. went to the end of the runway, full brakes, full power, a small tornado of moisture getting in the engine, release the brakes, my back stucked on the seat and here we goooooo......the best take-off ever!!!

I've flown most of the types, although obviously I'll never get the chance to fly a -100 now.

200 ... Ryanair (3), Palmair, European.
300 ... KLM (6), British Airways, FlyGlobespan.
400 ... KLM (6).
500 ... Lufthansa, BMI Baby, SAS (2), Braathens SAS (5), Aerolineas Argentinas.
700 ... Easyjet (3), Air Berlin, SAS Braathens.
800 ... Ryanair (5), Air Berlin, Air Europa (3), KLM.

For short flights the B732 is great fun, but when you're approaching a flight of 2 hours it gets a little too noisy for comfort. I Hope to get on the 600 and 900 series soon, the 737NG is a nice craft!

-300: With America West, PHX-LAS, 2005
-500: With Continental, MSP-EWR, 2006
-800: With Sun Country, MSP-PHX-MSP multiple times, 2005-2006, three currently scheduled in the future
-900: With Continental, PHX-IAH, 2005

I'd say the 737-800 is my favorite because the 737NG is more advanced, which is what I like. The 738 has winglets, while the 739 does not, and the 739 isn't as current as the 739ER, while the 738 is still the most current offering of its size. Plus, it's the most-ordered 737NG variant, as well as the one I've been on the most. Actually, it's the only 737 I've been on more than once.

-100, -200, -300, -400, -500, -700, -800

The -100/-200 have to be my favorites, but the flights I've had on the -700 and -800 weren't all that bad for a modern-day narrowbody. I flew on too many -300s and -500s in the UA Shuttle configuration to almost never want to fly one again. Alaska's -400s have been quite nice.

I have flown in the following Boeing 737 series:

  • -200 (15) segments; (11) Indonesia's Batavia Air, (2) GA, (2) Indonesia's Sriwijaya Air. Total miles flown is 3,238.
  • -300 (3) segments; (3) LH. Total miles flown is 978.
  • -400 (44) segments; (3) Indonesia's Batavia Air, (41) MH. Total miles flown is 25,364.

In all, I have flown in 62 segments covering 29,580 miles on Boeing 737s.

MH's 734s is indeed the equipment I spent the most time flown with and they are so far my favourite.

I would love to experience the newer 737NG. Hopefully MH will phased out their 734s soon.

Looks like a lot of A.Netters love the -200 series. Come to Indonesia, it is a -200 series heaven! I personally dislike flying in it due to safety reasons. Most of the air crash in Indonesia involved the -200 series. It was announced by the Indonesian government recently that all -200 series is not allowed to commence service in Indonesia, beginning 2008 if I was not mistaken. Most carriers with the majority of its fleet being the -200 series like Batavia and Sriwijaya are now looking for other equipments (-300 series being their favourite) following the order.

I've flown:

200 (Braathens SAFE)
300 (Norwegian, Lufthansa, Easyjet, USAir, United)
400 (SAS, USAir, British Airways, KLM, Kulula)
500 (Continental, SAS/SASBraathens, Braathens, Lufthansa)
600 (SAS/SASBraathens)
700 (SAS/SASBraathens, Lauda)
800 (SAS/SASBraathens, KLM, Delta, Sterling, Ryanair)

Even though it's rather ugly looking do I prefare the 600, at least in Euro-konfig at SAS/SASBraathens

Flown on;

B737-200 (British Airways, Ryanair, GB Airways)
B737-300 (bmibaby, easyJet, Go, Shuttle by United)
B737-400 (Virgin Express)
B737-500 (bmibaby, Shuttle by United, Air France)
B737-700 (EasyJet)
B737-800 (Ryanair)

Not sure of my favourite, either the -200 because it was one of the first planes I flew on, the -300 as it's been the aircraft I've flown most on, or the -800 because they're modern and look very sleek.

The only one that I haven't flown is the -600 model. After experiencing the -300 series and later, I came to dislike the -100/200 series just because it felt cramped compared to the others. It was America West in the old purple Phoenix Suns jet was the last -100 series that I flew, which I believe was the last -100 in the USA.

300: RG,MA,KL,LH
400: RG
500: LH
600: NG ( OS)
700: NG
800: NG,KL

and I must say that the 600 and 800 ( with winglets) were the best!

3 flights in a -200, 3 flights in a -700, All on WestJet. It's pretty close. Those -700s are hella sleek and damn sexy, but the -200s are old, noisy, classic machines. The -200 is my favourite a/c of all time!  Wink

I've not had the pleasure of many types, just 200, 300 and 800.
Best flight was on Air New Zealand -300
and worst was United also on a -300
I remember when the DC-3 was new!
