Best Seats CX A343

Mon Feb 12, 2007 5:33 am

Hey all, I'm flying AMS-HKG next month, and CX flies that route is with the a343. If I'm correct the 2-class version. I'm flying with my wife, so a window seat is a no-brainer (I hate the middle row in wide-bodies). Anyway, I was wondering what ppl with CX a343 experience would consider the best seat row in economy on CX's a343 (except of course the emergency exit row). Also, I prefer not to sit over the wing, as it limits the view outside.

Is row 30 any good (bulkhead seats)? Any experience with other rows, or does it make no difference?

Row 30 has extra legroom, but they also have bassinets there (and no floor stowage of course). They are also really close to the lavs and galley. So there are good and bad things about row 30.

Other than that, I would just say avoid 46AC, 45HK, 70AC, and 69HK. The other seats except for the exit row are standard, although the curvature at the back starts around row 63 or 64.

Thanks for the reply. Why should I avoid these seats?

Are the seats in the back (except of course 70 and 69) recommended due to the somewhat wider aisle and three seats in the middle?

I flew CX 2 years ago and was seated on the AMS-HKG flight at 66G, avoid that middle section at any cost. Although you would have some more storage space, you won't be able to watch the PTV properly, since the row goes from 4 to 3 and the metal of the chairs in front are exactly in front of you, which makes you have to turn your feet in some pretty annoying angles, especially if you're tall.
Other than that, I got disturbed by the galley quite alot, but during the "dark" time of the flight it was very quiet. Besides that you're one of the first to smell the food coming from the galley, but one of the last to actually get it and also because you're all the way in the back (they start in the cabin before the last one) there are less choices/no choice at all.

On the HKG-DPS, CGK-HKG and HKG-AMS I was seated at a window seat and do mind that there are IFE boxes under the seats which narrows your space down there by an awkward lot.
Nevertheless I found the CX service very good and would fly them again in a heartbeat.

IFE boxes are very annoying so definitley avoid sitting in a seat with one underneath the seat infront!

A bit off point, how many IFE boxes are there on planes?

Limited recline / proximity to lavatories.

From what I've noticed on seatguru, a lot of widebodies have them under every window seat in economy. I don't know what they do (exactly) or why they need so many of them.

Seat 11D  Big grin

Damn, it's not Economy..

I'd say that all of the other seats would be pretty much identical but I would prefer the front of the cabin. You always have the overhead bins to put anything into.

The wing runs from row 30 all the way back to row 45 which is the entire middle block of the plane.
It's all about the destination AND the journey.

Indeed, I never use the seat in front of me to stow my backpack or anything, just means less room for my legs. I am considering the front bulkhead seat (row 30IIRC), but I need a backup in case it's not available. I don't want a seat over the wing, that's why i am considering the back.

I have, but still, personal experience beats seatguru. Thanks anyway.

I avoid the middle row of widebodies anyway, so no problem.  Smile

Again no problem as I always order special meals, so I'm one of the first to get my meal anyway.  Smile

Thanks again everybody, very enlightening. Does anybody have experience with row 60 and back (window seats, not middle row)?
Thanks

One other question. How's the seat pitch on the a343's? I am used to flying KLM on long haul. Is it the same or better?

OK, my last try on this thread, does anyone know the loadfactors (so far) on the AMS-HKG flight of March 22, and the HKG-AMS flight of March 30?

Thanks...
