Continental's Overnight Flight From TLV To EWR

Mon Feb 19, 2007 2:59 am

I just booked a roundtrip ticket on Continental from ATL to TLV via EWR. All flights are on Continental. Continental has two flights per day between EWR and TLV, one day flight and one night flight. For the return, I would have liked to have booked the day flight, but it was $100 more expensive than the night flight and I'm on a tight budget, so I booked the night flight. How is the night flight? I'm worried that it will be horrendously boring since it will be dark for the entire 11-12 hours. Also, what kind of service is there on that flight (i.e. dinner and breakfast, snack and breakfast, etc.)? I imagine that EWR customs is fairly painless at 4:45am when the flight arrives. Is that true? Thanks for your input!

We serve a meal right along with beverages, clear trays and serve another round of drinks. Duty free, lights go out for a night's sleep, 1.5-2 hours before you land, another hot meal with beverages.

Immigration forms are done either after take-off or before arrival. There are snacks at the back galley during the down time.

It may be boring, yes. Bring a book, dvd player, iPod, whatever. We have movies at each seat back, but they can get boring, too.

The only flights at that time of the morning are your and our DEL flight. GRU arrrives at 0600 or so.
When are you going? I may be working your flight.

All the best,

Bill

Thank you for your response. I'm going to TLV on May 18. I'll be returning the night of June 22, arriving on June 23. Are you working those flights, or do you not know for dates that far out?

It is too far out for my schedule, but I will keep this bookmarked and will let you know, at least.

What other international flights leave EWR around the same time as the 10:50pm flight to TLV? I'm on that flight to TLV.

Airplanetire,

I fly CLE-TLV via EWR at least 6 times a year. (Just a side note, i ONLY fly CO)... i personally prefer the afternoon flight out of EWR (084) and the morning flight out of TLV (085), and the reason is the time of arrival.

CO84 arrives TLV around 9ish AM, where the airport is not as busy as it is in the afternoon.
CO85 arrives EWR around 4ish PM. If i take CO91 to EWR, then i'll arrive around 4am and i'm not a fan of that.

The next time i'm going to TLV is in June, i'm not sure what day... (i'm considering 6/16 or 6/17 but that's not final)

We have a large bank of international flights departing around 10-12M (especially this summer)

CDG, DUB, LGW, LIS, TLV, GRU, LIM, GLA, EDI, GYE to name a few.

Thank you for all of your responses! CO7e7, I wish I could have left on the morning flight out of TLV, but it was $100 more expensive than the midnight flight and I needed to save that money. I'm glad with my outbound flight though. I'm leaving on the late night flight from EWR, which means it will be light by the time I'm overflying Europe, which means I'll be able to see what's below if there aren't clouds. Oceans are pretty boring, but I love seeing land below, so the late night flight outbound is better for me. What kind of service is there on the late night EWR-TLV flight (dinner and breakfast, snack and breakfast, dinner and lunch)?
