Favourite Ryanair Desination

Mon Feb 19, 2007 8:54 am

I was looking at the routemap, and I've realised I've been pretty much everywhere they go, ex LON.

Apart from Oslo and Porto, of the 10ish places I haven't been, I am not interested in going.

Can we get a rough idea of the nicest places to travel to that FR serves, in fellow a.netters opinions?

I'm intrigued!!

I think I might as well work for the East Midlands Development Agency, but I think that the East Midlands (flying into EMA) is a pretty nice place for people to visit. We have three medium sized historic cities all within 30 minutes of the airport; Leicester, Nottingham and Derby - and we also have the large city of Birmingham about 45 minutes away which offers a wide range of shopping and tourism opportunities. Obviously the Midlands is surrounded by beautiful countryside, small villages and historic market towns.

Away from the UK, my favourite Ryanair destinations have been Rome (served through CIA), the Costa Brava/Barcelona area (served through GRO) and Valencia (VLC.)

I've only been to DUB-STN-BGY-CIA and TSF.
DUB is a great city I'd like to visit again...
Of course London is wonderful but arriving at STN isn't the best option...
I really enjoyed Venice (but not the airport). Now I'll keep an eye on this thread because I'd like to experience some other destinations...
Life is short : eat dessert first !

Come on your telling me you've not tried Szczecin, Rzeszów and Bydgoszcz yet.  rotfl

Seriously, probably Murcia - MJV, used them a few times to there.

You forgot to mention that you’re more likely to get shot, murdered, robbed or attacked in Nottingham than anywhere else in the UK, other than that it’s quite a nice place so I've heard.

I used to live in Klagenfurt - it was great in summer: sunning on the pier and swimming in the Woethersee lake surrounded by the Mountains, sipping Austrian coffee and eating Slovenian pastries (forget the name of that apple/quark pastry) - then getting smashed at a local 'Heurigen' with homemade beer, cheese, sausage, pretzels and Schnitzel!

They're re-starting KLU, right?!

I'm not quite sure where you got that statistic from, and know that Nottingham has had the nickname Shottingham, and all sorts of gun crime related problems, but it's all about knowing the right places to go out shopping and at night. The centre has some lovely shops, cafes, indoor shopping malls, sports arenas, theatres - and would urge anyone to come and visit the region, not only Nottingham but some of the local other cities, or even go into the countryside. I've lived here all my life, and touch wood, haven't been shot yet, because I've had no reason to go to the places which are well known to be crime hotspots.
