For a relatively small airport, we're spoiled for choices in airlines at BHM. We have:
American
Continental
Delta Connection
Northwest (mostly BAE 146s/Avro RJs, which seem exotic in a land of MD-80s and 737s)
Southwest
United Express
US Airways & America West

I can't think of another one we need.

And please DON'T say "Every single airline"

We Need............... EVERY SINGLE AIRLINE!  Wink

As it is, YQQ has:
- Jazz
- WestJet
- Central Mountain Air
- Pacific Coastal

We Need:
- Horizon Air ( to SEA )
- Southwest or American ( to LAX or LAS )

Cheers

San Francisco (SFO)

Thai Airways International
Many people here including myself love to visit Thailand and we do have a sizable Thai community here.

Aeroflot
But only if they bring back service with there IL-96.
San Francisco has a large Russian population and I am sure that Aeroflot can be successful when/if they return.

Cubana
Plenty of artist, educators, musicians here that visit Cuba and they would do well here. Too bad for that outdated embargo.  Sad

Olympic Airways
This is my favorite livery especially on the A340 and I'd never get sick of seeing this beauty flying in and out of San Francisco.

I wish Frontier operated here... instead of IAH.

DTW (aka America's 330ville):

KE: I'm not 100% sure on how it would work, but seeing as how both are Skyteam hubs, I think they could make it work.

AZ: should be interesting if it does happen

B6!!!!

AM: There were so many rumors of them coming here. What happened to them? Their chrome 73Gs would be very welcome here at the McNamara terminal

so many A330s and a single 767. Damn you BA, you just had to get rid of our only 777.

At SMF, we have pretty much all the majors. AA, AW/US, AH, CO, DL, F9, HA, B6, MX, WN, and UA.

The only one I could really see us needing would be either AirTran and/or Air Canada.

I'd like to see B6 in ANC. Not that there's a market for them in the Winter . . . . or any other additional carriers in the winter, but I'd still like B6 here.

Why might you ask: Because I don't particularly care for WNs cattlecar environment and I'd like to see an LCC get into ANC to help drop fares. US comes here, but not with enough frequency and they (currently) suck for on time performance and just about everything else (except in cabin service). So they aren't a factor, one trip r/t ANC on US and no one wants to fly them again.

So, B6 it is.

Otherwise, ANC is pretty well covered . . . .

F9 already serves ANC seasonally. If there was a market, I'm sure F9 would go year-round. There is no market for that.

QQ does not, and likely will not. Much more fiscally responsible of AS to "codeshare" and "partner" with locally owned and operated carriers such as PenAir and Era. No loss to AS if either of those two run into trouble (like Era, which is currently under bankruptcy protection).

Passenger service to MIA by an Asian carrier. We currently see China Airlines and Korean Air's Cargo 747, but that is about it.

Realistically speaking (without the need for a runway extension) it would be great to have the following airlines at Plymouth;

Isles of Scilly Skybus with their DHC-6's to St Mary's.
Aurigny Airways with ATR42's to Guernsey.
KLM could use the F50 to fly to AMS.
VLM with the F50 to LCY. (Have actually heard some rumours about this one being true)
Aer Arran using the ATR42 for Dublin flights.
Eastern Airways - destinations like Birmingham and some in Scotland spring to mind.

I'll keep wishing  silly

At PHX, it would be nice to see more European carriers (LH come back, AF, KL) and even Asian carriers. But PHX competes with LAX/LAS and SAN. Eventhough PHX is bigger than the latter two, population wise.

Basically, from Barcelona, we need MORE TRANSCONTINENTAL FLIGHTS!!!

- Need flights to/from Asian destinations as BJS, PVG, TYO, CAN, BKK and SEL;
- Need another carrier to serve MOW (supposed to be announced in few days by Clickair) and other ex-Soviet cities (TBS, GYD, ALA, TAS, LED, RIX, ASB,...)
- Need many carriers to serve Africa (not only Morocco, Tunicia, Algiers and Gambia): Kenya, Ethiopia, Senegal, Mali, South Africa and other countries have a great demand to direct flights.
- Need another carrier to serve South America (most reliable than Air Madrid)

(...)

And Iberia CEO's (Fernando Conte) continues with it's monologue that BCN have not enough demand to put any transcontinental flight (here we have an idiot person). Let's remember when IB had a 763 flying daily from BCN to JFK. Loads factors of this flight were 97%!!!!!!

MIA:
Would like some Asian airline besides for El Al, JAL or Korean would be nice, or CX.
Also maybe a B6 or F9, than Emirates would always be nice too. But MIA has most of what is needed.

UA - IAD

at FRA:

BR - TPE
AR - EZE (I don't know if it is possible with their A342)
AV - BOG (maybe with stop-over due to range of B762)

And I agree with you on Airtran.

Since CLT used to be my home airport, it would be really nice to see WN there.

MSY needs:

Taca/Copa-We have a large Central American population here.
Frontier-From what I heard, they did quite well before the storm.
Midwest-They also did well
Alaska-We need more west coast non-stops, SEA or PDX would be a nice compliment to this city
US Airways "west metal"-they need to bring back their non-stops to PHX and LAS, WN's frequency and schedule is horrible

Although I agree, I wonder if CO could even sustain such a route given that B6 already serves JFK? What would really benefit me would be a NW nonstop to DTW. However, again, I'm not sure if the market is there.

My guess as to why FL doesn't yet serve SMF would be because they don't have a very large presence on the West Coast, and they already serve SFO. Sure would be cheap having WN, B6, F9, and then FL!

Also, I note your in Folsom. Excellent choice, happened to be mine as well.

Here in ADL we need:

Thai Airways TG - BKK: We don't have any flights to BKK at all!

Emirates EK - DXB: No flights at all to DXB!

There is probably more but ADL has only a small amount of carriers flying internationally. The only main domestic carriers are QF, DJ and JQ which all serve ADL domestically and internationally (QF).

For Amsterdam they would be happy to welcome some big ones like

American Airlines !!!!!!!!!!!! (For God sake)
Air Canada (just withdrew, where are the CP air times)

Aero Mexico (Skyteam member)
LAN Chile (It's time they expanded in Europe. Besides, nice livery)

Thai (they said they were gonna come)
Qantas (to bring a new direct connection from Australia to AMS)
All Nippon (to compete with KLM on Osaka AMS)

South African (strong "notorious" ties with Netherlands)

And last, but not least EMIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where are you ???(besides cargo). They are even starting service to little Ryanair destinations, but have totally forgotten good old Schiphol...........

For TUS:

-Northwest (They are here but one flight a day, sheesh)
-Alaska (Same as Northwest)

-AirTran (Might be able to bring in some MCO flights that would be nice)
-Maybe another mexican carrier (can be seasonal)

For DTW:

JETBLUE (You know you have to come to michigan sometime)
AeroMexico
Korean Air
Airlines Flown: AA, CO, HP, MQ, NW, RP, UA, US, WN, YX / Aircraft Flown: 737-200/300/700/800, 757-200/300, 777-200, A319/A320/A321, DC-9-30/50, DC-10-40, ERJ 140/145, E170, MD80/83/90

For Tucson I am not certain we need another carrier just increased service such as more service to San Diego.. Mexicana to Guadalajara or Mexico City a few times a week would be welcome. ExpressJet is promising new non stop service.

For AMS I would like to see:

AM, they are the only Skyteam member without flights to AMS. Besides that their livery is just great.

Others:
AA, the only major US carrier without service to AMS.

EK
UX
Cityjet (AF)

RTM:
FR (EIN is just a bit to far away)

I was thinking mostly in terms of connecting to transatlantic flights, but even that might not be sustainable as most major European markets are served from other hubs, and there's probably not that much traffic between SMF and the smaller markets they serve from EWR. But still, flying overnight to IAH, then to EWR, and then another redeye to HAM last year was friggin' exhausting.  Smile

And you're probably right, B6 would likely get most of the O&D passengers.

Are you limited to CO though? And from SMF? That does indeed sound long, but I would have found a way around it. Many other airlines that serve SMF connect to one of their hubs, which in turn have flights to Europe. Also, don't forget how close SFO is....SFO-EWR-HAM.....SFO-MUC-HAM....and so on.

Anyway, nice to see a fellow SMF'er around here.

We have:

G4

Would like to see:
US Airways to CTL or even IAD (I liked when we had FlyI, but NW drove them out.) It would be nice to see a new carrier come in. Plenty of counter Space open.

That's pretty unlikely, considering the fact that they just announced non stop flights from SAN-MCO, granted I know TUS is a bit of distance from SAN but still, I think theyre going to focus on getting the bigger cities in the west coast for now such as, PDX, SLC, and possibly expanding into Canada/Mexico if they can get the slots. If/when they do add TUS, it will probably be a daily flight to ATL. But you never know, I didnt expect BWI-SEA or SAN-MCO.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was about to check on flightaware as I can't recall the last time I saw an Avro here. On the couple of flights I've taken with them lately it's been the 9 or the CRJ.

As for BHM personally, I'd like to see B6 or F9 come to town but I'm not holding my breath for either. I'd be happy if AA would simply add service to MIA.

With Aloha currently serving SMF, OAK, RNO, SNA, SAN, and LAS, I am pretty sure FAT would be one of the last places they would be looking. They are covered up and down California. Not to mention all the other airlines that serve California-Hawaii.

I was however surprised at the amount of service FAT gets. Quite impressive for a farm town!  Wink

Well, that particular trip was complicated by the fact that my parents wanted me meet them at EWR so we could all fly to HAM on the same flight. True, we could have met at some other hub besides EWR, but that was the one with the easiest connection for them, and the other itineries other airlines were offering to HAM from SMF really weren't that much better anyway.

I never really found driving to SFO to be worth the hassle, either. SFO-EWR-HAM would have required me to get up at around 4:00am to make it there 2 hours before the flight, which didn't really sound much better than the itinerary I ended up with. I don't think the guy who gave me a ride to the airport would have been too keen on it, either.

But the other reason I said I'd like to see more service from CO is that dispite that rather long itinerary, I was rather impressed with their service and would pick them again if they had a better schedule.

The only one I could really see us needing would be either AirTran and/or Air Canada.

News out today from a fellow a.netter from SAN saying AC will start service with Jazz to SMF 2x's daily starting June 15th. So there you go. Your wish come true.

Quoting JetsGo (Reply 40):
Service you need, or service you want?

Well FATFlyer always makes good points as to why Aloha should start service that is a connection onto SAN. Fresno is the 24th largest city to have passangers to go Hawaii and does not have service at all to Hawaii. That is the reasoning for it. 2x's weekly would be fine. Sure there are flights all over California that goes to Hawaii but that does not limit a single thing does it?  Wink

Quoting JetsGo (Reply 40):
I was however surprised at the amount of service FAT gets. Quite impressive for a farm town!

Hey now! haha. FAT is a great airport and with population boom and the wages that people are getting here, they are finally giving up on traveling to SFO, LAX and SMF to fly out of FAT. Record years now for passangers flying out of FAT. So watch out SMF, were coming for you  Wink haha!

IMO here at SJO we need: LH, CX, CA, BR, KE, SQ, NH, KL, BA, AF, TP, JJ, AR, LX.

It's just wishful thinking (except AF, because they will come soon), but in the end, anything that is different from the US carrier plus CM and TA would bring one hell of a lot variety.

For ONT it would be great to have F9 back. They had a few daily DEN flights awhile ago but they pulled out. UA seems to fill 5 A320's to DEN almost every day so I'm sure F9 could make it work.

AirTran would be greatly appreciated to lower ATL fares. Delta pretty much screws you price wise on ONT-ATL.

Now that is good. Next up, I wish for 1 billion dollars.

24th eh? How many passengers is that actually? I also wonder if Aloha has the metal to start a 2x week flight to FAT? I of course think it would be great, but I'm sure there is a valid reason the service doesn't exist already.

Well two things here. 1) We are in the same boat with regards to Bay Area travelers. They find it much more simple than dealing with SFO, SJC, and OAK. 2) We will always be the biggest farm town in California. Putting FAT in second, making it...well... the first loser.  Smile

I used to feel the same until BART opened up years ago. If you time it right, Walnut Creek can be reached in less than an hour. Then it is smooth sailing ahead. But hey, every man has his own.

checkmark  I flew them to DTW for the 2006 NAIAS a year ago and it was nothing short of great. Too bad it was all 738's though.

How would you like it? $20's, $50's, or $100's? I feel like a giving guy today  Wink lol

FATFlyer has the numbers for that. I would have to get them from him. But it is deffinatly enough to fill at least 2x's weekly or even 3x's weekly. The problem here is that Aloha does need the metal in order to do it. They used to do extentions onto SAN flights to get people from the valley to Hawaii. So until they get new aircraft to replace the 737 classics, we wont see them here.

I travel out of SMF quite a bit actually. Not more than FAT but SMF is a nice little airport that I enjoy. And must you be so harsh to call us first loser?  Sad We should be calling BFL, MER, or VIS the losers!
