CO EWR-HKG-EWR Questions

Mon Mar 19, 2007 1:58 pm

Hi Everyone!

I know I posted questions about CO 98/99 earlier but it won't let me add on to that thread so I'm starting a new one.

On Wednesday this week I will be flying on CO 99 EWR-HKG in coach and then returning on Tuesday the 27th in BizFirst. Going there I am in seat 32L which is the exit row and returning I am in 8K. According to seatguru these seats are not all that great. Does anyone have any input on them? For 8K they say it is noisy and for 32L they say it is cold because it is the exit row. How true are those comments? I know the exit row seat on the 752 behind first does tend to get cold. This will only be my second time on the T7 so I'm not too sure what to expect.

Also what is the service like in BizFirst? This will be my first time up front on any CO flight.

I appreciate any information that you have.

Thanks,
Dave

I've flown CO-99 several times, both coach and business. I've probably been in 8K a few times and never noticed a problem. From the seat map, it appears to be right behind the bulkhead. You'll be right behind one of the lavs, but that shouldn't be much of a problem. You won't have to worry about the seat in front of you reclining, but you lose the storage under the seat in front of you. The overhead bins are pretty large though so it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't eat before the flight, you'll have more than enough (Read--"too much!!") in Business. Food is pretty good too. Don't forget the port (wine) and ice cream after dinner.

In economy it's pretty standard. Never noticed an exit row to be cold though. Any air leaks would flow OUT anyway, so it shouldn't be any colder than any other seat. Probably been in those seats too and never found a problem.

Enjoy your flight, you made a good choice!

What do they serve you meal wise in economy?

Thank you for the information.

exit rows on the 757 and 737 at the window are cold. but they can be worth it. wear two pairs of socks and use a blanket, and you'll be fine.

i don't know that the exits on the 777 leak nearly as much as the narrowbodies. seat guru always says exit rows are cold, no matter if they are or not. they also always say any seat near a lav is noisy, whether it is or not. it's almost like they have a form letter they apply to different seats no matter what.

traffic to the lavs in the business first cabin is just not that heavy, and they don't get really smelly either, so I don't think you are going to really be bothered too much by being near a lav. but the galleys on any plane are noisy and light does come from it when you are trying to sleep. you might just make sure about that.

personally, I like row 5 because it has no one behind you. that way nobody pulls on your seat or kicks it when getting up or getting things from the footwell, etc. and the proximity of row 5 to the lavs is not as loud as the proximity of row 10 to the coach section, since sometimes they put babies in the first row of Y (16)
