Airlines And Their Regrets

MH with OneWorld. I read somewhere that BA and AA INVITED MH to form OneWorld way back but they turned the offer down because BA refused to follow their demand to move BA's hub from SIN to KUL. BA and AA later on joinforce with QF and the rest is history. BA withdrawn KUL from its network later.

MH is now struggling to join SkyTeam but receive extreme objection from AF. Malaysia Airport on the other hand is struggling to get BA and QF back to KUL.

If only MH accepted the offer... Sad

Any other example?

I imagine MH will come to regret getting into bed with KLM. There is just no comparison between the long haul products of each airline (except maybe the ticket price). Imagine booking KUL-AMS on MH only to find yourself on an @ss numbing seat on a vintage 744 combi.

British Midland and turning into this "bmi" thing with leased 767s and rattly old 757s, killing the business passenger out of Heathrow and turning into a [loss making] easyjet impersonator.


Heathrow has been described as the only building site to have its own airport.

SQ and EK had dollar signs infront of their eyes!

BA forced passengers to connect at LHR, and guess what? Us Northern passengers (like anyone else in their right mind) said no...

Id imagine that UA is pretty remorseful about Shuttle By United/United Shuttle. I heard it flopped, and now the ex shuttle 737's are a pain to ride on for both pax and f/a's. There are no drink carts on board, its all service from trays, and there are no heaters or proper storage for F class meals. Its all cold meals served on plastic accept for the drinks. Ted seems much better than Shuttle.

Air Canada probably regrets paying Celine Dion for that song a few years ago! It put the airline through a long stage of bankruptcy, for a commercial I only ever saw once!

Midway II..

I am sure they had wished that Furgeson (or however you spell his name) had sold out to the Goodnights (think SAS Institute - VERY successful computer company in Cary, NC) so that Midway would still be flying today..

There would have been some CRJ, E70, 737-700, 767, and 777 in the fleet by now.. boat loads of non-stop routes from RDU.. and probably a focus city in the midwest and west-coast.. probably SJC since SAS Institute had strong ties there..

US Air purchasing PSA. A real money loser, planes didn't match, US didn't understand the west coast culture of PSA and a few years later they had nothing to show for it, same can be said about the American take over of Air Cal.

Metrojet didn't fare too well for US Airways either.

Historically I'd say the decision to give Frank Lorenzo control over EA has to be the worst decision by any airline. A damn shame really.

Very True.

What about US's BWI hub? I bet if US still had it, it would be a real money maker and open lots of new routes. Anyone other than me think US should have went Boeing?
