Flying Iberia/RAM To Marrakech - A Few Questions

Thu Mar 22, 2007 5:37 am

I'm going to Morocco from Spain next month and will be arriving and departing via Marrakech (RAK). I'm on an Iberia A320 for the MAD-RAK flight, and I'm returning to Madrid on a Royal Air Maroc B737. I know very little about RAK and had a few questions:

- when flying to RAK, which side of the plane should I sit on to get good views on the way? How's the scenery on the flight down from Madrid? Looking at Google Earth, the tire marks on the runway at RAK suggest that most flights approach from the west.

- what's the best way to get to the Medina from RAK? I assume a taxi; does anyone have advice on how to get a reliable ride into town?

- I've flown Iberia within Europe and "experienced" their deliciously overpriced Tu Menu BOB service. Is this also offered on MAD-RAK, or will I get a complimentary snack since it's technically an "intecontinental" flight?

- What can I expect on Royal Air Maroc? The flight is in the afternoon... will they serve a meal? How are the 737s in terms of comfort? Can I call RAM to request a seat assignment, or will I have to wait until I arrive at the airport in Marrakech?

A lot of questions, yes, but I want to be sure I get a good seat and have a nice flight. Advice from anyone who's been down there is much appreciated!

I can't quiet remember which side of the aircraft I flew one when flying MAD-RAK on Air Europa but I believe I was on the left side coming back and it provided some great views of Andalucia and the rest of the Spanish and Moroccan countryside . Both flights left and arrived during dark so views were limited of Marrakesh as I remember, especially on the side of the aircraft I was seated on.

Sorry that I can't help you with this question, I was with a tour so I had a tour bus to our hotel. Taxi I'm sure would be the best way.

Again since I did not fly Iberia or have flown Iberia on a shorter international flights like MAD to RAK I am not able to answer your question. However since the flight is not a very long one I would doubt that food would be served.

I'm going to assume RAM will provide you with a meal, you should be able to see these things with your bookings. The newer 737s that RAM have look pretty comfortable.
