ORD Things To See And Eat?

Tue Apr 03, 2007 7:07 pm

Hello chaps,

My next trip across the pond is getting nearer, this time I'm visiting friends in CID but I have a layover for a few hours in ORD and I was wondering where were the best places to eat and also do a spot of spotting, do they allow the use of cameras?
I'll be transferring between Terminal 5 to the American Airlines Terminal, so are there any points of interest I should look out for?
I've been to ORD once before but just sat in the gate area and now I'm feeling more adventurous!

Regards,

J

Lots of food airside.

I found the United Terminal to have the best stuff, if you have time to get there.

I can't speak for spotting as I had an unplanned overnight on the floor so there wasn't enough light.

The airtrain all around might be fun, just for the hell of it.

All the terminals (except 5) are connected beyond security, so while it'll take you a while to get there, you can walk over to that side of the airport without having to brave the TSA twice.

UA has a shuttle bus that goes from E3 to C9. Actual trip time on the bus is less than 3 minutes, but you get to go down onto the ramp and see all the planes through the bus windows.

Pretty fun if you like aircraft. Mostly narrowbodies and regional jets in that area of the ramp though.

Check out the terminal maps of ORD. All the terminals (except the international terminal) are connected airside (aka secure area).
