King Of Your Local Airport

Thu Apr 05, 2007 2:35 am

In terms of flights or operations who is the largest at your local airport.

My closest airport is PIT and US still is the leader there. In second place is WN and DL takes the third.

Hmmmmm at MCO???

WN, but they are hardly King... they have close contenders in Air Tran and DL.

My last two home airports?

DTW - NW of course
DAB - Those annoying Riddle C-172 Mosquitos

JFK is B6, and ISP is WN.

JFK is always neck and neck though.

TNT is the largest operator here at LGG, and a lot of people even call the airport "TNT airport" !

Air Southwest is the only operator at my home airport of PLH, so I guess it's not much of a competition there!
I'd say the new FlyBe, after the takeover of BA connect, is the biggest carrier at BHX, which is the nearest airport to university address.
The Iberia group (Iberia/Air Nostrum/ClickAir) would be the largest carrier for MAH, which is my holidays home airport.

Where I live now (near west suburb of Chicago), WN is king at MDW and UA/AA at ORD. Where I used to live (central NJ), the king is CO at EWR.

Well, here in BOG the king is AV with their main hub operation that has about 160 daily departures...they fly to more than 35 destinations from BOG.

Far second comes Aerorepublica, with about 40 daily flights and like 14 destinations.

At East Midlands Airport bmibaby and Ryanair each have five Boeing 737 aircraft, with the former operating more routes and having more seats. bmibaby are however the spiritual king of the airport despite being smaller, because their head offices are here.

At Seattle (SEA), it is Alaska (AS) and Horizon Air (QX). Coming in third is either WN, UA, or NW.

At MSP it is NW (although the Humphrey terminal is led by Sun Country).

At PHX it is US, closely followed by WN.

Anyway, DL is the biggest here at RIC.

QF rules BNE with DJ coming in second but one air craft type certainly dominates BNE and that is the 737.

The king of SYQ is definitely 5C (Nature Air). At SJO, it's close to a tie, but TA is still the leader.

at LAX

here are the numbers

UA (20%)
AA (15%)
WN (13%)

Top three carriers at LAX, my guess is Delta is 4th and Alaska is 5th. LAX is great for spotting because of the variety of traffic.

At BCN, the largest operator is Iberia but for no longer because Clickair is taking many routes left by Iberia.

Spanair is the second one.

At Leeds Bradford it seems to be Jet2 and FlyBe.

In Dallas, the closest airports were Love Field (Southwest) and DFW (American).

In Austin, Bergstrom seemed to be dominated by Southwest but there were a lot of Delta and American planes there too.

In Houston it is Continental by far!

Breaking that down by airports.....IAH the king is Continental, HOU it is Southwest.

Aaaahh..the beauty of BOS. its not a hub of any airline (although it has a few crew bases) so its fair game for everyone. I would say the two most dominant carriers in terms of departures are B6 and AA....

Here in the D.C. Metro area we have:

WN at BWI
UA at IAD
US at DCA
I wish UA flew mainline to MYR, that way you wouldn't be stuck in a smelly Saturn for 12 hours.

JFK: I'd say DL and B6 (neck/neck)

LGA: DL or AA

EWR: CO

Not entirely sure, but I suppose that SK is king at MMX. Next is CPH, which is actually easier to get to from where I live, and there SK dominates as well.
