Anyone Visit Flightlevel350 Lately?

Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:14 am

Well they downgraded there videos to flash because of people uploading them on other sites. The quality has diminished extremely...take this video for instance- http://www.flightlevel350.com/Aircra...hansa_Aviation_Video-8278.html?s=y

What do you guy's think?

Flash movies are just as easy to download, just convert the .flv to Quicktime with iSquint. No problem ... if you have a Mac.

You can do that with a PC too. Just save the .flv from the browser cache, than convert it to Windows Media, Quicktime, Real, etc. with an associated converter, like Xilisoft.

I have a converter called SUPER, its free and does a lot more than a lot of similar programs that you pay 20-30 USD for. Also, will quality suffer ?

And it isn't on an sd card since the expensive notebook mac I looked at in LAS didn't have a slot.
boggled  Of course, since I'm off tomorrow I could save all that trouble of downloading and saving and just go jumpseat a flight longer than 90 minutes and take my own damn video!  sly

I just went there and it asked me if I want the vids either in flash or Mediaplayer format. I just chose Mediaplayer format and all is good. Big grin

If in doubt, open a vid and click on "Settings" to change your configuration.

Other option on the Mac, allow the vid to load in quicktime as it does by default, and when it finishes, you can just Save the video on ur compu, as normal. FILE, SAVE AS..

This only works if you have Flip4Mac installed, as it converts the WMV files to Quicktime. As I understand it, the site no longer allows direct downloading of the files, and you have to play a few tricks with it. I don't know if the PC side of things has as simple a way of saving the higher quality files any longer, like the Mac side does.

There is admittedly some difference in quality. When I saved the .flv file from the link provided in the opening post, it was 26.7MB in size. When I saved the WMV file as Quicktime, it was 63.7MB.

I dont get what your on about, its still good quality for me. Right click and go to quality and change it to high. I prefer them in flash because then i can watch them with Firebox, unlike before.

USB card readers are a pittance these days, buy one - theres no reason my laptop should have card readers built in, espoecially as new card formats seem to appear on the market every year.

Below the video you'll see, "Don't like Flash Player? Switch to Windows Media Player". Just click on that once, and it becomes your default.
