How Old Were You When You Got Elite FF Status?

Sat May 05, 2007 5:37 am

How old were you when you first achieved some level of elite status in an airline's frequent flyer program?

Me - haven't yet gotten it. Maybe once I enter the workforce, hopefully in a job that has business travel.

18 - all from my own money, well, wiser spending of my student loan/grant than just going out and getting pissed every night!

First gained silver and then gold status when 19 with Flying Blue and KLM.

14, just a few months ago. Thai Royal Orchid Plus Silver.

I could have easily gotton elite status at the age of five, because I travelled so much, but I din't enrol in anything until late last year. Now I'm in AC aeroplan (do not use it because of TG ROP), CX asiamiles (miles not status), TG ROP, DJ velocity (miles not status) and EK Skywards (or as it is called for those under 16, skywards sky surfers).

I got Premier on UA last year when I was 22. It mostly came from 2 trascons and a trip to HKG.

I was 25 when I got Premier Executive (Star Gold) with UA.

That is my situation as well.

The closest I've gotten has been with Frontier. If I flew Frontier exclusively then I could probably get Ascent based on the number of segments (but not miles - MSP-DEN-PHX-DEN-MSP is plenty of segments but not many miles - they are among the shortest flights in F9s mainline system), but alas sometimes I fly Sun Country or other airlines instead.

When my dad works for a large company, on an international deal, registered in Norway, and living in australia, we get a huge travel 'budget'. The travel budget is based on an expensive last-minute Y fare for the whole family from PER-OSL w/ any carrier (and a little more - in case we only find extremly expensive fares). With it, our whole family manage a biz class ticket to Norway from PER (I travelled alone to Norway in Y this christmas also) with many domestic trips and intra-asian trips.

Of course we get loads of miles Big grin

When I was 29 - it's called a 20 segment around the world ticket in J  Smile I've maintained it since then... Qantas Gold.
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

I'm 19 and have just got Premier status on Mileage Plus with United. That was due to a RTW on Star Aliance. Not much point in having it though, I won't be flying anywhere with Star in the next year sadly  Sad

I got my Pualani Platinum for Hawaiian Airlines when I was 7 because we took a lot of inter-island and mainland trips because of my mother doing cases in Los Angeles or on another island (I always tagged along when I could). I just got my Premier status on UA a few months ago at 13. I thank my mother for flying a lot and taking me.  Big grin
Welcome onboard, penuts? - noa

I havent received any but I know my classmate who is 14 and is PPS member for 5 years

For those who dont know, you have to travel SQ or MI, and achieve 50,000 miles or 25 sectors in business and first class exclusively.

We all know how expensive SQ is don't we?

I am about to sign for TG ROP so I can attain silver. I travel approx. 15k miles a year

I got UA Premier for the first time at 16 and I've been really happy with it. I qualify on segments though which is a pain but has some advantages.

How come DL's FF program doesn't involve segments? Anyway, as long as my CO miles transfer to MQM's for my flight to London and back I'll finally have ff status as a silver medallion member. With school, I should be able to maintain this and continue to build miles so I can finally upgrade to first class on transatlantic flights.

41 - with AA, back when I had to travel to London on business and most of my personal travel was on AA. Only lasted one year.

Got it again for 07 on Continental, Elite Sliver. So far, only one upgrade - upgrading on SRQ-EWR isn't easy. But I did get upgraded on FLL-EWR on Sunday, when all the cruise ships come in, so it is possible! And it is nice to just walk down the Elite carpet and onto the plane whenever I want, plus the 25% mileage bonus.

Should be able to maintain this with a little planning - I already have about 6500 miles flown & 8700 miles purchased but not flown, a west coast run and a few runs to Florida should cover the rest!

29 - I got Blue status (equiv of silver now) on QF. This week I'm going for silver on DL, having got gold on AA and silver on LH. After that, I'll start working on AA Platinum.

P.S. Just checked my DL account, I got Silver after my last flight (EWR-BOG CO F) - wooohooo !

20 years old, Gold Elite on NW. Spent all my momey, traveled alot, mainly the DTW-RSW-DTW route, with some Transcons-(DTW-west coast) and some european destinations.

I still have silver elite status and I havent bought a revenue ticket in almost a year. I know work for NW so my miles and status mean basically nothing. However, being silver now on NW upgraded my AMEX stawrood preferred guest status Smile
