What Airline Flies To The Most Countries

Sun Jun 17, 2007 11:51 am

I was researching what airline flies to the most countries with its own metal , codeshares not included. This is what I have come up with from the various websites so far.

AF 83 Countries
BA 72 Countries
DL 52 Countries
AA 44 Countries
CO 40 Countries
UA 30 Countries
US 22 Countries
NW 17 Countries

If anyone has any corrections or any new airlines to add please do.

Try to look into LH and KL too. The answer you're looking for is definitely one of the european airlines.

You have to remember that SQ has no domestic market that they can possibly serve, and are purely a long-haul airline because of the country's location. (When I say long-haul, in this case, I mean wide-body aircraft, though I know it's not technically the same thing).

Also, destinations served is not the same as countries served. I'm sure BA still has more than 100 destinations. According to the OP, they fly to 72 countries, but within the US alone they have LAX, SFO, ORD, BOS, SEA, EWR, JFK, MIA, DFW, DTW, IAD, PHX, and probably a whole lot more I'm missing. That puts them at 83 already.

I'm surprised not to see VS up there somewhere, and I also hope to see LX on that list sometime soon as they continue to expand.

Wouldn't that mean that they would fly to more countries rather then less?? Because if they have no domestic market, then every flight they fly should be international....am I wrong?

...but that was never 100 countries.

By the same measure, U2 and FR will score quite low, as their routes are concentrated within a fairly small area (on a global scale).
I travel, therefore I am.

Interesting...without doing any research I would have guessed BA and I wouldn't have expected it to be close.

I'm surprised not to see JAL, ANA, or QANTAS up there somewhere just below the bigger European airlines.

Qantas only fly to

Japan
China
Singapore
Thailand
USA
UK
New Caledonia
New Zealand
Fiji
Indonesia
Phillipines
South Africa

So that is 12 (13 if you include Canada which is seasonal) with their own metal

You're missing two QF destinations: Germany (daily SYD-SIN-FRA) and India (3/week SYD-BOM).

Turkish was the big surprise on that list. I imagine Aeroflot flies to quite a few as well.

I was of the same thinking as Swiftski, as I thought that VS flew to about 25 destinations worldwide, so I wasnt far off.

I think BA fly to 19 or 20 cities in the North American continent but because its all part of the USA/Canada its only classed as two countries. This wil be the same for a lot of European carriers I think
