UA F Class Meal Service Standards

I had the pleasures of flying First on United from LAX to Denver last Sunday. I have flown several times in United First in the past year, and was surprised to see the meals served from a black plastic tray, not unlike one would find a frozen TV dinner, rather than a plate. It was an interesting contrast to see the tray against the table cloth.
Also, they did not offer warmed nuts in a ramekin either, which I have experienced on other first class flights on UAL. (The last F flight being in February)
What is company standard for F in terms of meal service? Thanks!

Were you on a 737?? More then likely you were on an ex-Shuttle plane. Those planes were reconfigured with drawers for lots of stowage of beverages only to be used on multi-segment flights up and down the west coast. In doing so, all ovens were removed as well as a rear-lavatory.

After the end of United Shuttle (aka Shuttle by United) these planes are used all throughout the United system. So- to still be able to serve meals- UA serves them in cold containers similar to the ones that hold their Buy-on-Board meals on transcons. Up until maybe a year or two- United First was still served with plastic cups. Now, you receive glass, but in the glasses used for United Business.

I flew yesterday (Jul 3) on UA407 DEN-SEA (B757) in first class. The service was about what I expected. We were offered mixed nuts and an initial round of beverage service towards the beginning of the flight. Service was delayed a while due to bad weather climbing from DEN. The dinner choices were an open-faced turkey sandwich or a southwest chicken salad. I chose the salad, and it wasn't bad. It was served with a piece of cake. Beverages were continuously refilled throughout the flight, and the crew was friendly and efficient.

Nothing we were given was plastic. Plates and bowls were ceramic, glass glasses, and the utensils were metal. Sounds like you got the shaft a little bit. I've flown US Airways First many times in the past, but this was my first time flying United First, and I was fairly impressed.
