Which A/C You Wish Was In Some Airlines Fleet?

Fri Sep 14, 2007 12:36 pm

Have you ever wish a certain airline had a certain jetliner. For example, I wish Eastern had bought those 747 200s from Qantas. I also wish ATA had bought some of Northwest 747 classic, and put them in there fleet. It would have been nice to see American West 727. Also an UPS A340 600F would have been a nice site.

I wish AA had kept TW's B717s!

And, even though I know it's in their fleet already, I wish AA would fly the 777 into/out of STL!

I wish NW would have ordered the MD-11 instead of adding all those second hand DC-10-30's in the 90's.
If they had, knowing NW, they'd still be flying them too.

First of all, it'll be a sad day when the last NW DC-9 is retired. Second, the 738 as a replacement?  no

I wish VS had the 345 to add to the 343's and 346's.

Just for fun.

THe DC-9s are making them money. They are reliable, good for short routes, and above all, paid for. The 738 is a completely different segment of the market. The C-Series would be perfect for the routes NW flies the DC-9 on. THe E-195 would work, but the dispatch reliability is a tad concerning.

I would love to see a B6 787, but I dont see it fitting in with the business plan for the time being.

I agree! Those old loud NW DC-9 are some of my favorite jet to see take off at Norfolk International Airport. I look forward to hearing JT8D and eventhought I like hearing them on Fed Ex 727 sound almost as good on NW DC-9.

That dose make since, due to the fact they are about the same size.

I do not see why AA got ride of those 717. They should got ride of those P&W powered 757 from TW. An AA 757 should always be RR powered. Those P&W power 757 did not look right in AA colors.

I would love to see some Q400s in the Air Canada Jazz fleet.

Perhaps also some V2500-powered A319s and A320s in the Air Canada fleet.

Ditto.

As for WS. It'd be cool if they Had the 737-900. If they ever do decide to get anything smaller than the 737, this would do well for them, and it looks great in the WS livery.

I also wished that AA kept the 30 TWA's 717s, and ordered some 70 more. Furthermore, I wished that AA had bought the 744s from Canadian International some years back, and also gotten that 3rd 747SP from TWA.

I wish that Frontier will get 737NGs some day.

I wish that Qantas will be an all-747-only fleet again someday.

I wish that Alaska will standardizes their 737 fleet on just the -800 & -900 series only, and sell the -700s to Southwest. The -400s...keep 10 of them for combi/freight duty. Good airplane for the job.

I wish that any US-based carrier would get some 736s.

I wish that Allegiant would get as many MD-87s that are still available.

I wish that FedEx would swap their PW-powered MD-11s for UPS's GE-powered MD-11s

I wish that Boeing had bought & restored McDonnell Douglas's first off-the-line in the DC jets series.
(the first DC-8, DC-9 & DC-10 were all still existing before Boeing bought McDD, and now they're gone)

And lastly, I wish that any US-based passenger carrier still had some tri-jets flying around.

Regards.

Had they kept the 30, they would have at the very least got the remaining 20 that were already ordered and no telling how many of the 50 options they would have converted (The TW order was for 50+50 options). At least this would have kept the 717 line open a lot longer.

While on the 717, I wish DL would have ordered it. Would have been perfect on many of the routes the 732 was flying.

SAS had 747s in there fleet in the 70s and 80s. I remember seeing one take off, while my family and I was at Westchester park. They later down graded to a DC10 and then a 767 and then nothing at LAX.

Here's some more I have thought of... by the way, great idea for a topic 747400sp  bigthumbsup

I wish KL would have made a follow up MD-11 order for ERs circa 1997 before MDC was gone. I also wish they picked up some second hand airframes that went to freighters.

I wish some of the F100's that US and AA disposed of somehow found themselves back in the US with a LCC. I know AA deliberately made sure they went overseas but I don't know about US.

I wish AA never signed the exclusive deal with Boeing in '96. Instead I would liked to have seen a large MD-90-50/55 order, enabling the family of the MD-90 to go into production.

It would have been nice if DL hung onto a modest fleet of the youngest L-1011-500's for transcons with the 763's. Much like AA has done with the 762ER's. The 764's should have went international from the start.

I hope G4 eventually adds some MD-90's when they become available as well as beef up the MD-87 fleet.

Quoting FlagshipAZ (Reply 18):

I've felt that way for the past four years. I wouldn't have thought the DC-10 would outlast the other models with the legacies 10 years ago.

Ala "MD-15"? Talk about raw power! And the MD-11 was pretty much already overpowered with the PW4462's.

The good folks of Dallas would think there was a second sun in the sky.

Mind I remember when AA would put things like 767 LuxuryLiner on the nose of their planes (do they still do that?) An AA AA380 would have to be LuxuryLeviathan Big grin

I also wish they had 757-200. I have that for flight sim, and it looks soooo good. It also helps that it is my favorite airliner...but that is besides the point. I would also like to see some WS 767s, and or 787s. That would be wicked
