LAX- LHR - Which Is The Best Premium Economy?

Tue Oct 09, 2007 11:46 pm

I'm going on a flight in early November LAX- LHR and I want to take a Premium Economy flight. I know that Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Air New Zealand all offer a Premium Economy on this route. What is everybody's experience on each and which should I choose.

I checked on each of their websites and found the following as the prices.

British Airways is about $1500
Air New Zealand is about $1700
Virgin Atlantic is about $1400.

So, the price is very close, so I think it's the flight experience that counts. I heard that NZ offers a lot of business class service, food and amenities... just a different seat. I don't know much about the others.

Anybody have opinions? What's the experience like? Which one is the best?

I have always liked the NZ flights...nothing better than being on New Zealand 1.

Hey Boston92...thanks for the opinion, but specifically, why do you like Air New Zealand best? Is the food better, seat better, or what?

From what I've heard here on a.net, the majority think that VS premium economy is best, at least a lot better than BA. VS is a carrier which has spent a lot of money developing its premium economy. I would go for VS (was really surprised to see it as the cheapest!)

I have only done NZ1 once, and it was my first non-United intl flight...so I really can't compare it to anything. The actual seat and service was good, food was good, but I have no ther basis to compare it to.

Sorry.

Mate -
just wondering if you have considered MaxJet - they have a Business Class fare for $1700?

As Nickofatlanta says why dont you try MaxJet. Think that they are best. The fare is similar.

Think that MaxJet is better. I would go for MaxJet.

NZ you get Premium Checkin, Business Premier wine and food. The actual seat is nicer than an economy seat...provides more support (leg rest etc) and has more legroom... it isn't much wider however which is its only downside. Laptop power is also provided. NZ has PE on the UD and also behind Business Premier on the MD.

I've been on WTP on BA and i have to say its great. I would highly recommend it, I'm sure the other two options are really good too but i haven't flown NZ and VS in premium economy yet, so i can't comment about them but from what i have seen it seems pretty decent.

NZ bets the competition hands down. Y+ pax get business class meals and drinks, pre take off drinks. You basically get business class service for Y+ price.
