Your First, And Last Flight On A 727!

Wed Nov 07, 2007 9:49 am

Hi!

Well, we had the L1011, the 747, how about the 727? It was a classic and flew many years around the world. The 9/11 "killed him" but I'm sure we have here among our big "fraternity" some pretty good information. I "open the hostilities" on this topic:

Regrettably, I've taken just one flight on the 727. I've had so many opportunities to fly IB's in the past, but always ended up on something else, like an MD or Airbus/ATR  Sad

Flew this old bird from Damascus to Aleppo in Syria this January on Syrian Arab Airways - registration YK-AGD. She was looking a bit worn, but still has plenty of life left in her I hope!

Hi!

Dan, I wouldn't mind swooping one of my 727 flights for that one!!! I think the most "rare" 727 I flew was a Royal Air Maroc one!!! That's very exotic indeed!!!

My last flight on a B727 was on Pan Am on a flight from MIA to LGA in 1985 as a F/A. Then I started working on international flights and flew mostly B747's.
Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.

Try a trip to Syria then, or perhaps Iran. The latter has relaxed Visa policies towards most EU states - if you are from Portugal you should have no trouble.

Unfortunately I recall that there are none of these left in commercial passenger service

Mine was TWA, and please correct me if it can't be true, but I believe in mid to late 90's, from STL to ATL. We were flying through storms on approach, and I could not imagine how we could possibly land safely ... we did of course! Every nut and bolt seemed to shake and creak for the whole descent!

First flight 727 (which I remember) was WA: PDX-SEA-ANC, Feb. 1977. I was 10 years old then.

Last 727 flight was TWA; ORD-STL April 23, 2000.

My first 727 was also my first flight ever, on a Champion Air -200ADV, MSP-PVR back in March 2001 as part of a vacation package with my parents when I was almost 14.

My last ever 727 flight was the return trip a week later, same airline and everything. My first two flights were 727s and I haven't flown it since. I think its ironic, however, that I can still see Champion 727s today, and in fact saw one here in PHX the other day when it was bringing in the Cavaliers for a Suns basketball game. When I flew it, everyone flew 727s. Now, Champion is the only passenger airline in the continental U.S. to fly them (as far as I know).

Don't remember the exact dates, or even which one was first or last, but it would be the mid-late 90's on NW MSP-MCI or [some hub]-PIT. I was a crumb-cruncher, so I don't necessarly recall much except the fact I hated it because I thought the plane was ugly in design and there were no life rafts (I couldn't swim, and I didn't like the idea of holding onto a cushion full of farts and little kids' pee and other assorted crap or relying on a life vest).

My first would have been in about 1978 I think from Sydney to Melbourne with Ansett, I have the rego as VH-RMX but neglected to include the date. A 727-200.

My last was on the rare EastWest 727-200 (they only had the one and I'm not sure how long for) We flew from Hobart in Tasmania to Sydney with a stop in Melbourne. January 19th 1993.
All my other flights were on Ansett and only once ever on a -100.

AFAIK, my first 727 flight was on Pan AM Berlin-MUC in the mid-80s. My last 727 flight must have been on UA MUC-LHR in the early 90s. I took the UA flight from MUC (then the old Riem airport) to LHR quite often - it was my favorite connection from Germany to the US.

My first one was SFO-PHX on a UA B727-200 and the last one was scheduled PHX-ORD-JFK on a UA B727 but we ended our journey at ORD d/t bad weather. That happened in 1991. Ever since then I have not flown on a 727.  Smile

Yes, after the 747, the 727 is my favourite airliner of all times !!!...

My first flight was on a Mexicana 727-100 from San Antonio ( SAT ) to Mexico City, via Monterrey ( MTY ), back in 1965... Lovely and incredible memories, indeed !!!

My first 727... Mexicana´s XA-SEL !!!

My last flight on a 727, was on an Aviacsa´s friendly and smiling bird, from Merida ( MID ) to Mexico City on a stormy Saturday afternoon of June 2003.

I flew the 727 so many many times... How much I miss it !!!

Best regards

My first flight was on a TWA 727-200 from JFK to TPA in the 80's and than my last was a Pan Am (Boston Maine Airways 727-200 from SFB to Agudilla back in 05' on a semi emergeny trip my my girlfriend at times grandma died down there. We could have flown American out of TPA for about 20 bucks more but I said 727 and a 3 hour drive from my house in SRQ or a boring 757 from TPA 45 minutes up the road. 727 it is!

Not exactly sure when my first 727 flight was but it was back in 1992 or something on SA)">AA routing MIA-MEX. Much too young to remember...

Have flown on both the -100 series and -200 series...

My last -100 series was aboard ZS-NYY routing JNB-CPT on Nationwide (CE) as CE706 on August 29th 2004

First was on an NW 721 ATL-MIA. It was likely in 1965. I recall I thought it was pretty kool but not nearly as entertaining as a 720B.

I am thinking my last was on a DL 722 ATL-MIA (to the Int'l. Airliners show ----late 90's?-early2000's?) Anyway it appeared to have been dusted-off after a stay in the desert, and pressed into service for much needed capacity. To say it was in rough shape cosmetically would be an understatement.

I sure did fly on a lot of 'em back in the day. Miss 'em now.

My first B 727 flight was on an Air France B 727-200 DUS-TXL in the early 80ies.
My last B 727 flight was in a TWA B 727-100 TXL-FRA late 80ies
I miss the sound of rolls royce darts and speys

SA006, what did Nationwide do to their 721 ?

I hope to fly 721 one day... they are very rare these days.
Shame that there are very few trip reports incl. 727.
