Question On S.Asia

Wed Nov 07, 2007 11:04 am

I'll be going to BKK in February and I'll be there 16 days. Having been there many moons ago, I was thinking of visiting either Hanoi or Phnom Penh. Which would be more interesting? I was only thinking of a couple of nights in either one.

Help appreciated.

Both are great off the beaten track places with beautiful places nearby to visit. I'd say try Hanoi.

I have never been to Hanoi but I visited Phnom Penh a couple of years ago. The city is ok for a few days, there are some things to see in the city itself and in the immediate vicinity (such as the Khmer Rouge killing fields). However, you could also do a side trip to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) which I would highly recommend. There are cheap flights between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap (mine was about 20 US $ as part of a trip BKK-REP-PNH-BKK on PG) or you could take the boat which, AFAIK, takes about 6 hours.
