It would be interesting to know if anyone with special knowledge about
this could answer. From their own experience as crew or passenger...  Smile

In my experience, Friday afternoon and evening flights are the best for drinkers (or worst, depending on your perspective). And in my experience, Southwest seems to have a higher proportion of drinkers than other airlines in the US. I think it is probably because they send out drink coupon books to their frequent fliers with each free RT ticket earned.

I once was on a Friday evening flight from OAK to PDX on which a jovial frequent flier held up a fist full of drink coupons, declared it was his birthday and announced that the drinks on the 90 minute flight were, "On him". It was crazy. I had two cocktails, and most people I could see from my seat did too. On landing the entire cabin was singing, "...for he's a jolly good fellow..." at the tops of their lungs. Someone even produced a bottle of champagne from somewhere and gave it to him after the landing.

Any Southwest Airlines flight to LAS. The ones from LAS probably have the most hungover passengers.

Did you ever watch "Airline" on A & E

There would usually be 3 story lines and 99% of the time, 1 of them would involve someone being drunk.

Without, hopefully, offending anyone, one outfit I once worked for would dread what were "affectionately" known as Houston Hickeys and Crazy Cannucks going back stateside after time in the oil regions of the former USSR.

Boy could they drink, and they were always in J !

No way, the charter crowd are quite sedate comapred to the average U2 or FR flight to a stag and hen destination.

CPH to BKK on TG in holiday season. A lot of in particular Norwegians and Swedes have now left the dark shadow of their state monopolies (that make sure a most ordinary pub will charge you US$ 10+ for less than a proper pint)....

You'll have to be on the flight in order to believe it as many of the poor lads are not used to the booze..

HA flights from ANC to HNL in the dead of winter. The Alaskans clean us out of booze on every flight!

Our old MAC flights from Norfolk, VA to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean would take the top prize for most alcohol consumption, and most cigarettes smoked on a flight, and boy am I glad those days are over!!

I would second MUC's statement:

Quoting MUCflieger (Reply 9):

well, probably all flights from Tallin to Helsinki - so those flights could really become a trip to Hell (HEL)...

I once took the ferry from the Estonian capital over the Finnish Bay to Finnland's metropolis - and I was astonished to see myself surrounded by more than tipsy Finns that carried as much alcohol as they could somehow put onto them or into their bags (well, carrying devices rather).

Other than that I'd guess that quite a few flights to and from PMI are filled with heavy boozers - especially from Germany and Switzerland...(the image of the Ballermann still exists)...

Another, well funny, if somehow bizzarely unexptected, experience was on a Friday flight from PHL into LAS - I happened to sit next to two ladies who were about to party hard and spent several dozens of bucks on red whie bottles (I was flying on to LA) . They tried to persuade me in the end to go with them...

anyway: cheers

Stockholm-Bangkok with TG have had some problems with
not only drunk passengers but also on drugs and the combo
could be very bad as they go agressive and want to jump out!  Smile
I have been on flights when a man tried to open the dooor and
another tried to kick out a window. Amazing to do that in Y class

Probably, as it probably a lot of the same crowd that takes the ferry between Newcastle and Amsterdam. Did that once....full of drunk people on the way to Amsterdam, and full of stoned people on the way back.

Any flight on which the passengers are primarily Anet members returning from an Anet meet, particularly from MAN
 duck

On a more serious note I would say either a LCC carrying pax on a stag or hen party to/from places like Prague, or a VS flight LGW to LAS or Florida full of chavs.

I've flown plenty of domestic flights in Russia. Usually, at least one drunk party on board, except if the flight was an early-morning flight. The FAs sell liquor on board, but none of that miserly 50ml bottles. We're taking about 350ml and up. Those with a fear of flying also hit it hard.

Once on a flight SVO-HKG, there was a bunch of mates ready to party from the moment they stumbled out of the Irish pub at SVO. During the flight, they must have drunk all their duty free liquor. Since drinking alcohol brought with you is forbidden, they poured with the plastic bag around the bottle. No fights, but it did get rowdy enough for the first officer to make an appearance.

I flew back from Riga yesterday morning on Ryanair to STN...and most of the people on board were hungover. I only had 2 hours sleep that night so was too hungover and tired! One man even decided to get off the plane and catch the evening flight as he felt so sick! Lol.

I've worked at FRA some time ago and found out, that most US soldiers were drunk on their way back home from Iraq. Their route was KWI-FRA-United States. I can understand them making a big party. I think I'd be in the same mood in this situation, but sometimes they made really trouble.

With no alcohol being served onboard domestic flights on SU and S7 and with the new security restriction with liquids I highly doubt that.

However, the last time I flew from DME to FRA on S7 there wasn't the liquid limitation in place and we met a few Russian who shared some of their Scotch with us.

While this is a one off and occurred almost 20 years ago, imagine how tanked he would been.

In 1989, an Australian cricketer flying from Sydney to London consumed 52 cans of full strength beer.

From my own eyewitness experiences I'd have to agree with the A-netters who mentioned LAS.

I'm not so sure about the idea that the flights OUT of Las Vegas have lots of hungover passengers. My experience has been that the early morning flights on WN are filled with pasengers who have been drinking all night. They spend the entire times on these flights talking about drinking, first about what they had the night before and later about every other time in their lives that they had too much to drink.

As an aside: Remember when flights had smoking and non-smoking sections? Most US flights had smoking sections that started around row 20 or so. On LAS flights the smoking sections started around row 6.
