Tue Dec 18, 2007 4:56 pm

2.

SQ # 38 Los Angeles (LAX) to Singapore (SIN) is listed as 18:20

SQ # 37 Singapore to Los Angeles is listed as 15:35

Singapore Airlines holds the distinction of having two of the world's longest flight durations.....EWR to SIN as you posted, and LAX to SIN., due primarily to head-wind in the Westwardly direction.

Cheers....  Smile

How is that possible? Only a 20 minute difference? Does it fly over the poles or what?

EWR-SIN sometimes goes over the North Pole (on a completely direct polar route), but sometimes when the winds are stronger, the plane will fly over Europe, the Middle East, and India. That flight has more choices.

LAX-SIN takes a typical tract for US West Coast - Asia flights. It goes North and passes south of Alaska and then heads down the east coast of Asia.

And for the future? What are the planned routes we will see in the next few years with the 772LR and 787's? (LON-PER, LON-SYD, NYC-SYD, HNL-LON)?

It really depends on the wind of the day. Sometimes it goes polar and sometimes it comes to Europe and head down to Singapore via the UK and France. Great circle distance can be anywhere between 8300Nm and 9000Nm while actual track distance can easily +700 to +1000 on top of GCD.

Aeronautical data - Use nautical miles please!

If you dont like the thread or dont agree with the thread dont post. I get so annoyed when we all pay our money to be part of airliners.net and always there is somebody waiting to post fussy little comments about whether the thread should exist or not....you dont like it dont comment.

Sorry to post this but I am really hacked off at the moment with this on this site.

RobK, simply do not read this thread. That way you don't have to deal with the horror of a duplicated thread.

Problem solved!

WN used to be PHL-OAK. Now that they have dropped a lot of transcons I'm not sure what is the longest. Things indeed change throughout the course of one year.

Sun Country's is MSP-SXM, 737-800.
I believe US Airways' longest flight is CLT-FRA, A330-300.
PVD-LAS is Southwest's longest flight these days, at 2363 miles.

I'm not sure a checkmark and a rolling face add anything meaningful, so I'll add that American's longest flight is DEL-ORD (or maybe ORD-DEL, not sure which one is blocked at a longer time). The distance is 7484 miles and its flown with the 772ER.

SAS Denmark's longest flight is CPH-ATH 1150nm

Actually it is CPH-SFJ at 1857nm, though only seasonal.

This has been done before. Please do a search.

Why don't you snooty snobs just ignore threads if you do not like them.? You do not have to respond. All such shitty answers do is take up space. I for one am interested in this thread.

I know, it only flown during summer (May-Sep), but it's not flown at the moment so I didn't include it.

Is it really that hard to ignore the thread in the list if you're that uninterested, rather than adding a bunch of pointless posts to it? I'd suggest your post for deletion but don't have the energy.
