Need Qantas Help

Sun Dec 23, 2007 4:56 pm

Hello everyone,

I was looking for some Qantas help. I'm booking a trip to Australia, and I wanted to know what the best flights to take are. We are going LAX-SYD-CNS-MEL-LAX. I'm more interested on the LAX-SYD and MEL-LAX route. Will there be any chance that by May 08 that the A380 will be flying either route? What would the flight number be if they were to switch by then? What about the 747-400ER with the new interior? Is it on all of those flights between SYD and LAX and MEL and LAX? Or is it on certain flights only? What flight numbers would those be?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

No, QF get there first A380 in August

It wont tell me the type of 747 on the QF timetable but I would assume QF11 is on an ER

As Trueman stated QF will not be flying A380's by May.

QF93 (MEL-LAX) is almost always a 744ER. SYD-LAX flights could either be 744ER or one of the 3 ugly sisters AFAIK those aircraft are all in one 747 subfleet with a common seating seating configuration. You most likely wouldn't know until you see the aircraft at LAX.

Also just so your aware. CNS-MEL is not flown by QF Mainline you will be put on a Jetstar A320/A321 for that sector unless you want to connect in BNE or SYD.

no...won't hit the MEL-LAX route until late August or early September.

well its not really new...its just a new fabric and as far as I know VH-OEJ is the only one fitted in the ER family. non ER fitted to date are VH-OJH/M/N/S/T but I'm not sure how often they go to LA or SF because they are non-pacific configured 744's. I would forget premium economy too..you could get a cheap business class ticket for the same price.

well its not about the flight number but the designated sector for that aicraft, Wunala can do SYD-LAX one day then that evening turn around and fly back to MEL...very hard to predict what sector it will be on, if it will be on US sector at all. Its been in Asia and Europe recently.

I'd say just buy your ticket and be thankful...unless you want to purchase the evening of your departure to be certain of the a/c you'll be on, but this far out, impossible to tell. Qantas will also be sending the A330 to LAX starting in early first 1/4 of 2008.

Not true; QF mainline does fly CNS-MEL. QF 703 (CNS-MEL) is operated daily using a 767 300. Also, JQ does not have A321s by the way.

Yeah, I think this is the flight we're booked on. Thanks everyone for your help.

In reply to VHXLR8, JQ will have A321s on the MEL-CNS-MEL and MEL-OOL-MEL route by April. At this point it looks like double daily to CNS and more than that to OOL. The first 3 A321s are due in Feb/Mar from Spirit Airlines USA and the next 14 will be new builds. No info on delivery dates for those as yet
