What Is The Smallest Plane You Flown On?

Tue Jan 01, 2008 4:37 pm

Okey, I got this idea after reading this thread; What's The Biggest Plane You've Flown On? (by Super80DFW Dec 29 2007 in Aviation Polls & Prefs)#last

So what is the smallest plane you flown on??

For me it is the Bae 146.

CO and NW Saab 340s... I know they're not entirely small, but they are the smallest I've been on. Always a great ride on them!

SAAB 340 or EMB-120 for commercial aviation (not sure which one is smaller - I am guessing the SAAB).

Some kind of Piper for general aviation.

Smallest overall would be the Cessna 152 and the smallest aircraft operation a commercial flight would be the Bell 412, or D228/Metroliner if we're just counting planes.

Smallest airliner I've flown on is a Cessna 402 for Cape Air from FLL to EYW. Sat in the co-pilots seat!

For commerical flights, either a Saab 340 (NW Airlink, American Eagle ) or EMB-120 (United Express).

For any flight, a Piper Warrior.

Piper J3 Cub, can’t get much smaller than that, no electrical system, no radio, hand prop the engine to start. You fly this IFR all the time (I follow roads, railroads, etc.)

So far not really small yet I hope to change that in a few months with alot of flights in a Piper 28, C172. Cirrus etc.. But for not Cessna Citation Sovereign. Amazing plane! What a ride FL470! Commercial plane would be Chalks Grumman Mallard 73T.

For me it is the ERJ-145XR for Expressjet/Continental Express. I have also flown on CRJ-200s, which also seat 50, but I used cabin width as the tiebreaker here.

Yep, and amazingly good on a calm day - I managed to outsail quite a few shiny fibreglass things in my old club's tatty K-8, DHA...

Sadly no pictures in the database! I might have to go up there again and talk to them about taking some!

Doesnt the lack of an electrical system and radio make it kinda difficult to fly it IFR?  eyebrow

I dont know about you, but I kinda like having 2 way radio communication and a glideslope...
