Any Anet Pilots Flown In Or Out Of EZE?

Tue Jan 08, 2008 1:52 pm

All

I watched over the weekend the film Fuerza Area SA and it spent some time discussing the standard of ATC at EZE in that basically they dont speak English, the ILS isnt functional and the controllers dont even actually know whether the ILS is operative or not etc etc.

Now in my opinion, it has been blown out of proportion for the benefits of the viewers, no doubt trying to make a point. My theory is that if it was so bad, the carriers which fly there simply wouldnt!!

So I would just love to know the opinion of you guys here, particularly pilots about actually flying into EZE and also comments on the film.

As always, thanks for reading and replying

I listen to BAIRES TMA on 125.90 quite often and, honestly, I have been impressed by controllers ability to communicate in English. Granted, they may not be any Shakespeare type, but they are certainly effective in controlling English-speaking traffic. That includes flights from non-English speaking countries such as Brazilian Varig, TAM and Gol. In my experience, communication in English between parties from non-English speaking countries can be challenging.

I have watched Fuerza Aerea Sociedad Anonima. I think that Pineyro points out serious deficiencies about the way commercial aviation and air traffic in particular is managed in Argentina. He makes very good points. If you were not familiar, you could end up scared of flying into that air space. But that is not the whole picture, of course.

Tell that to my brother-in-law. He ended up scared, when I told him not to watch and now he doesn't want to fly down to USH and FTE for his honeymoon... which I already paid for!

Agree wholeheartedly with your post.

Get a scanner, go >2mi out of EZE or to EZE itself... and voilá! Big grin

I havent been to EZE, but I just come from VCP and I am in DKR at the moment! And its so hard to explain something to them or request something out of the "normal"! They just keep saying: say again, say again and when they still dont get it, they just ignore you or just answer anything, which doesnt relate to the question!

But that isnt only the case in south america, its in far east, russia, africa etc as well!

Dont get me wrong: there are lots of ATC guys, whose english is VERY good and you can talk to them normally! But there are the others as well, who just can say: Good morning, maintain flight level, radar contact...

Oh another thing: been to DFW not too long ago and I must say, I was asking myself WHAT language they were speaking and believe it or not: it was English Big grin Big grin What a weird accent!  Wink

Wilco,

Thanks. Lucky you have not been to EZE. In the movie they portray an incident with a Lufthansa MD11F. Apparently a test missile passed close the flying path of an MD11 that left EZE. Very scary, and discusting to see the people working there to be so unprofessional.

So it was a missile? We heard about that incident in Uruguay when it happened a couple of years ago, but everyone was saying a UFO was spot over the River Plate by a LH Cargo captain.

Today I learned it was a missile.

Havent heard anything about that.... but it sounds scary...

But actually I'd love to fly to EZE, but not because of the airport, more of the city and the yummy steaks there Big grin hehe
