Highest Airline Frequency Between Two Airports

Wed Jan 09, 2008 3:17 pm

It just got me thinking and I was wondering which airlines have the highest amount of flights between two airports. For instance I believe UA have up to 18 flights a day between SFO and LAX. I dare say WN are up there as well between two points and I would think its just in the US where theres such massive frequency on that scale but I am all ears.

I look forward to your responses.

Happy Flying.

Just had a quick look at QF SYD-MEL and it looks as if they have 36 flights a day.
( I checked Monday 28th Jan)

I was going to suggest looking at the count on the Delta Shuttle service between BOS-LGA and DCA-LGA. But that was before I noticed the first reply with QF's 36 daily flights. That's once every half hour in an 18 hour day.

It is pretty much every 30mins. They actually have two seperate flights leaving at the same time, QF421(B767) and
QF136(A330) both leaving at 0930.

WN has 30 flights each way on DAL-HOU scheduled tomorrow.

Additionally, on Dallas-Houston tomorrow.

AA

DFW-IAH, 6 flights each way
DFW-HOU, 6 flights each way

CO

IAH-DAL, 14 flights each way
IAH-DFW, 11 flights each way

IIRC, WN very recently had 31x daily and CO was at 16x on IAH-DAL. Perhaps a seasonal reduction...

Yeah, that's up there for the US ... also some of the Hawaii inter-island, but looks like SEA-PDX beats that.

Well, for latin american standards, AV has a high frequency on its BOG-MDE and BOG-CLO routes, with up to 17 daily roundtrips on the first and up to 18 daily roundtrips on the second (looked on avianca.com). Of course this doesn´t beat the SP-Rio shuttle but i can´t think of any other route in this area with so much frequency on one airline. Maybe in Mexico.

Just before 9/11 Aloha and Hawaiian each had about 30 daily roundtrips between HNL and OGG; about 20 to KOA and LIH and about 15 to ITO. Back then Aloha was bigger than HA interisland.

With direct flight to the neighbor island it has dropped to about 18 to OGG, 15 to LIH and KOA and 11 to ITO. AQ and HA are about equal now, with HA probably being slightly bigger.

Rough guesses based on "usual" schedules....I didn't look anything up.

LHR - AMS must have quite a high frequency every day, what with BA, BD and KL operating the route.

12 BA
8 BD
9 KL

so 29 flights per day

LON - DUB is a fairly busy route, if not one of the busiest in Europe. Theres BA, BD, EI and FR all on that route with multiple frequencies every day. Dont know if LTN is served though, but for sure LGW, LHR and STN are.

Also, MAD-BCN I think might be in the running. Without comparing the flight numbers I think its a winner with upto 43 departures showing. Theres the 34 from Puente Aereo, the shuttle service from IB and then 9 showing when you do a mainline search which makes 43. Plus Veuling and some other airlines operate on this route too.

Yep, and don't forget AF who have the LCY-DUB flights too.

Between Monday through friday Iberia has 28 to 31 flights from MAD to BCN which is a pretty good number. And for example I have made a quick search (probably not 100% correct) for January 10th and there are 47 flights.

Paris - London was, for years, the busiest route in the world.

Not any more, of course, since the Eurostar high speed train services.

In France, Air France offers 34 x Daily flights* on Paris-Toulouse, 25 x Daily flights* on Paris-Marseille, 25xDaily* on Paris-Nice.

* Week days.

I think it's 54 total /daily

NYC-LON is about 20/day

PVG-HKG has lots too. KA alone have 16, plus Shanghai Airlines, Hong Kong airlines, and others. Same to PEK ex PVG.

I believe the flights are mostly operated by 737 equipment but at peak times other equipment is used such as A330-300 and 767's

I'll have a look at amadeus tomorrow and try and total up the amount of seats

I think you're answering a different question. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it isn't about city pairs overall, it's about one individual airline city pair.

The city pair question is asked about once a month .... this one not quite as often  Wink

You'll need to find an airline in the high 30's flight/day to be in the running.

From CGH to SDU there are 29 flights a day on JJ, 18 on G3 and 13 on RG, a total of 60 per day (that's on week days though).

From CGH to GIG there are 4 flights on JJ, 6 on G3 and 1 on RG, a total of 11 flights

and...

From GRU to GIG there are 5 flights on JJ, 5 on G3, 2 on RG and 1 on O6, a total of 13 flights.

If you put all together between SAO and RIO, there are 84 flights a day.

Now, let's make this topic even nicer, and break down by ACFT type!

All CGH-SDU are operated by A320's on JJ, 73G on G3 and 733 on RG

From CGH to GIG G3 operates a mix of 3 73G and 3 738

From GRU to GIG:

JJ operates 4 flights with A320 and one flight with A330...
G3 operates 1 flight with 73G and 4 flights with 738
RG operates 1 flight with 763 and flight with 733
O6 operates 1 flight with F-100

Therefore between RIO and SAO there are:

37 A320's
22 73G's
15 733's
7 738's
1 F-100
1 767-300
1 A330-200

It'd be even nicer to break down by seats, between two cities, but that would give a hard time LOL
Anybody wants to try??

Rgds

MEL-SYD has a slightly more frequent service by DJ with 737s (mostly -800s, I presume). QF's MEL-SYD service is mostly 763s.

When UA first launched Shuttle by United in the 1990s, they had 54 daily SFO-LAX flights. That was quickly reduced to 40 and then further.

HNL-OGG at least matches any other US domestic city pair in frequency with about 43 flights daily in each direction (a few more on weekends).

Right, but for one airline it's not, right (even though I implied it might be)?
How many Hawaiian flights is that?

Sorry, I didn't read the initial posting carefully enough. Thought the question involved the highest total frequency in a city pair. HA alone has about 18 daily HNL-OGG (up to 22 or so on Fri/Sat/Sun).
