Non Reving To Japan?

Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:22 am

Good Evening everybody,

I am considering flying to Japan the first week of Feb (Feb 1st to be exact), I was thinking my best non reving option would be PDX-NRT oe SEA-NRT on NWA. Anyone that works for AA, UAL, NWA, CO or NH (JL does not have ZED agreements with my airline) have any advice on whiich of the US gateways is easiest to get to Japan? Is this a good season (load wise)?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

The NW PDX-NRT flight looks great for February 1.
There are 112 seats still to sell.
You are now free to be sexually harassed and then terminated for filing a complaint--Southwest Airlines to me.

Hello Chepos!

Some of the AA flights look great. Here are your options.

AA169 LAX-NRT 772ER : F-class 0 out of 15 booked
J-class 15 out of 35 booked
Y-class 139 out of 194 booked

AA153 ORD-NRT 772ER: F-class 10 out of 14
J-class 26 out of 35
Y-class 122 out of 194

So both of these options look good. DFW flights are FULL so don't consider those. Hope you have a great trip no matter what your choice is, NRT is an AWSOME place for spotting if you've never been. Let me know if there's any other info I can offer.

Cheers,

MJL

Everyone, thank you for the information.
At the top of my list right now are PDX-NRT and LAX-NRT, my first choice however was to get on UAL's SFO-KIX route since the first city I want to visit is Kyoto, Japan. . What is the upgrade policy for AA and NWA for OAL employees? And should I pay attention to the seat map on the airlines websites- how accurate are they? If anyone has any idea on how SFO-KIX is looking that would be greatl help.
Again thanks everybody for the info provided, I greatly appreciate it/

You didn't say where you're starting from, but CO looks do-able from both EWR and IAH. (EWR looks better.)

I originate in PHX. But I would be willing to do a red eye to the East coast in worst case scenario.

The thing about LAX is that be careful, because if one airline cancels they could try and roll people over to another airline. As you saw NW's flight is well oversold, but as usual AA's LAX-NRT flight has plenty of seats open. Where as PDX nobody else serves NRT, of course that could work against you.
