Should Ryanair Update Their Livery?

Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:15 am

Yesterday I was in India and I must say that I really liked the Air India Express 738s in their very smart, fresh, bright, yet spicy and sexy liveries. I then thought of how boring and dull Ryanair's 738s look in comparison. Ryanair does not lack imagination, in my opinion, when it comes to marketing tactics, but I find that their livery lacks imagination and in need of an update and a fresh new bright and sexy look. Is it high time Ryanair updated its imagine and livery?

THE AFTER

Ryanair are are still currently updating thier fleet to the sleeker blue underbelly and billboard titles and as Gkirk mentioned, the lady has undergone some curvy breast enlargements.

Ryanair was ok and is still ok. Now let's talk about their American counterpart Southwest. Was ugly is ugly.  yuck

Their Livery is still way better than Eurowhite and many of the other boring liveries out there. They at least have some colour on their aircraft. I agree its not the most inspirational scheme ever invented, buts its a lot nicer to look at than some other 737's, IMO. That being said, i must also say that it always saddens me when companies spend all the money for new liveries and then only make minor changes, that the average Joe Public doesn't even notice.

While Ryanair's livery isn't the best out there, it's certainly one of the better. No need for change IMO.

Like the airline itself- the livery does exactly what its supposed to. I can't see them needing (or wanting) an update anytime soon. Perhaps they may reinstate the advertising liveries they previously had.

I wish Ryanair's image was as lively and fresh as easyJet's. There's something very dark, bargain-basement / dungeon about it. The interiors look a bit naff as well.

It wouldn't take much more paint to give it a slicker image. IMO
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

I quite like the FR 738s in the billboard livery, they look clean and fresh, even quite smart.

Personally, I'm not a fan of LS's livery and although on A319s U2's livery looks nice, on 737s I don't think it has the same effect.

My $0.02

I think the killer is cost. The crucial question for Ryanair (or any LCC)...is this going to bring me any more revenue? Obviously, no. So how do you justify the cost?

Tom.

I think it should say RYANAIR.COM. Afterall most bookings, and anciliary revenues (excluding onboard sales) are purchased on ryanair.com. So promoting it would be a plus.

May be they should fly the planes in the green primer. it would save cost and customers would get money from FR instead of paying 0,01 EUR for a leg.

EasyJet's livery is definitely a lot more imaginative, JetBlue's more sober. AirBerlin's has won now that the red has become brighter whereas Southwest remains so lala. I guess Ryanair livery has now a very good memo value and therefore will remain as it is.

By and large it appears remarkably conservative for a company like their's at least seen in regard of their marketing plots and the dust MOL stirs up. Same is true for the costumes of their female FAs. But I don't find it too bad. If only the yellow was softer. But the company and their strategy are truly hip.
I play all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

If they were to change it don't suprised if O'Leary adds a Livery Charge to go with the check in charge and the ludicrise wheelchair levy that FR charge all pax even if you don't have need a wheelchair.

No, no need for an update or a new livery. As long as they do not turn in to flying ads again.  Smile

Better yet, when they spend an unbelievable amount of cash (approx. $100,000.00)on a brand marketing consultant, for what amounts to:
