Newest A/c You Have Flown With?

Thu Feb 07, 2008 2:06 pm

Hi!! Will try to start another thread (hope I wont be banned this time)!!!

So what is the newest aircraft you have flown with??

For me it is a B737-700W with TUIfly, it was delivered 22/02/2007 and I flew with it on the 25th June same year. So the newest for me is 4months and 3days!!!

How about you???

Lots and lots which I have flown in the first year of their 'life', thanks mainly to lots of European LCCs starting up and ordering masses of new planes. This one though is the newest when I flew it;

G-JECL, a DHC8-400 operated by FlyBe. Was delivered on the 31st January 2006 and I flew it on the 23rd of February in the same year.

For me, it was a LY 738 (4X-EKA): it was delivered in February 1999, and I flew it in April 1999, so 2 month old!

I think I'm actually the winner so far... N818MA (which is now N818MD) was delivered on August 13, 2004 and I flew it on the 15th. I had thought it was weeks old... looks like I was wrong.

I flew a CRJ 700 or 900, I forgot. It was in July 2007 from ORF-PHL on US Airways Express

It is one of these two - I'm not sure which because I'm not sure when the Ryanair aircraft was delivered, but I know it was only a few months old.

NW CRJ-200 operated by Mesaba (N602XJ), delivered 9/2005 and I flew it 12/2005 IAH-MSP.
FR B738 (EI-DPV). I flew it 6/2007 MAD-BVA. I want to say it was delivered in April, actually, so this may be the newest one for me.

I have not flown yet... until this evening when I will board in the new A380 of Singapore Airlines to Sydney in "J" class.

-2 hours and counting... Big grin

I will try to explain the experience (without photos) tomorrow morning.

I flew LH on a 320 from DUS to LHR a few years ago and the crew announced that it had been put into service that morning. It had been to LHR and back twice that day and was about to do its third run.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Many years ago I was on an AS 734 from FAI-ANC-SEA, pilot told us it was in its first week still.

In 2001 I was a passenger on the second revenue flight of N305AS...the first 737-900 from PHX-SEA

I flew on N767UA when it was just a week in service, i think, May 1995. At that time N766UA and N767UA were the only 2 777s in service, doing an Ord-Iad-Lhr-Iad-Ord rotation.

I picked up N5270J, C172 from the Cessna Delivery Center located at Strother Field (WLD) and flew it back to FMY on 2/4/80. Man was it cold up there than morning, but less than 8.8 hours and two fuel stops later I was back on the warm southwest FL coast.!  Smile

...and a F9 DEN-PDX flight I was on back in August 2004 ( I forget which one) but I do remember the F/A announcing that the aircraft (A319) was only 5 days old. Sadly the PTVs weren't connected yet.  Sad

I was on a pre-delivery Customer Acceptance Test Flight for VT-KFE (MSN 2522) back on September 5th 2005 from TLS (to TLS). This was the last flight prior to delivery and was only the 6th time the aircraft had flown. When the aircraft was handed over to Kingfisher on September 8th, it had only flown a total of 9 hours and 6 cycles...

Have to say I love the new aircraft smell too!

A SW 737-7. In the last couple years sometime. The crew announced it was just on the line that week. And I remember immediately checking for the "dirt" factor. And sadly it was already. Please, it looked new, but it had some visible wear just after a 2-3 days.

I'll win easily the widebody contest of this thread, at least so far...
On 5 OCT 2005, DXB-MEL:

Ladies and Gentlemen%u2019s EMIRATES A340-500. When I checked airfleets at my arrival I was pleased with another surprise: A6-ERJ is the newest member of the EK A345 fleet, and at the time of my flight

Quote:
First flight date 28/09/2005

Just 8 days before of my flight

That's what I wrote on my TR, which you can check on my profile (check the absolutely stunning spotless wing), and I'm quite sure I heard that this aircraft had only done a DXB-CHC roundtrip after its delivery, entering service on October 3rd. So 2 days isn't that bad, is it.
How many hours could that aircraft have on its log? Less than 50 perhaps?

I flew on EI-DWX today FR205 STN-DUB. Aircraft delivered on 30th Jan, arriving 31st Jan, so in service less than 3 weeks. Without going through all my flights one by one, i would hazard a guess that that is the newest aircraft i've flown...

I was on the delivery flight of that aircraft (N305AS) from BFI to SEA. I bid AS miles to get to go to the delivery ceremony at the B-52 hangar at BFI and then ride on the flight to SEA. The flight took us north over Mt. Baker and then south Mt. St. Helens and back up to SEA where a reception celebration followed.

Needless to say that was the newest aircraft I've flown on.

For me I think its G-JMAA (Thomas Cook 757-300)

The flight (LGW-MAH) was in the first half of 2001, and I believe the aircraft had only been in service a couple of weeks. The interior smelled brand new, and I remember the captain's announcement "...welcome aboard this brand new Boeing 757 300 series..."

Last fall (I think October) a friend of mine here at work flew the 2nd rev flight on a new 737 with FL. It had flown ATL-MCO, and he was on the return flight MCO-ATL. Capt came on and made a comment about it. Don't have the reg since i wasn't on the flight.  Smile So it had all of 1 hour of rev flight time on it when he took off....not too bad

B747forever you'll like this. I was on a delivery flight on a EI 735 from SEA-DUB, and a couple of A330 delivery flights fromTLS-DUB including the famous EI-JFK!
And then the usual one month after it was delivered in Jan on EI-DVH, and last July on EI-DUO.
