What Do You Eat In International F/C?

Sun Feb 10, 2008 4:12 pm

With food cutbacks in Y, F and C catering seems to get better. In the past, I used to become a glutton on the plane. But these days, I tend to chose the lighter options, often skipping one or two courses during the long haul flight.

I often get the chicken or fish or veggie dish rather than beef.
I often skip the soup and salad.
I ALWAYS go for the caviar!
I eat maybe half the dessert.

What do you tend to go for?

I tend to stuff myself in International First. I don't really sleep much on planes, so I keep myself active during the flight. Also, I tend to find the snacks to be not appetizing, so I prefer to "load-up" during the initial meal service and then "fast" until the pre-arrival meal service.

I usually eat every thing they give. I'm usually busy the second I get into my destination city and don't want to waste time looking for some place to eat. Sometimes the deserts though, get me a little dizzy when I'm flying.

But I love SA 's quieche. It was the first quieche I have ever tasted and loved it.

I get whatever's the cuisine of the destination (except going home). Generally, it's chicken, with beef being more Western.

Regarding portions, if they give it to me, it's gone.

Agreed - I don't sleep either.

I eat everything on offer - always. From the canape's to the cheese and all in between. I also drink like a fish. With all the food, I don't get drunk - just tipsy.

After paying the airfare, there is no way I wouldn't eat unless I was very ill.
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

I normally eat what's placed in front of me. In the all-too rare occasions I fly J (never flown F), I normally choose what sounds appealing (and won't poison me). Fish I normally avoid since it is either bland, or dry. And I got sick from fish served on board once.

Since becoming a CX Diamond Member, I normally eat at their First Class Lounge before the flight so I can just savour the menu (or just go to sleep since most of my flights from HKG are around midnight departure).

As for black caviar, I'm over it. Had Sevruga, Osyotr, Beluga, all of them.I lived in Russia for nine years and usually had a tin of that stuff handy in fridge or freezer. Once my wife and I purchased a 900g tin (we had friends from overseas) and the leftovers alone took nearly a week to get through. Even had it for breakfast, just by the (table) spoonful. And now with the major caspian sturgeon species threatened, and the origin of caviar doubtful (might be poached), I steer clear of it.

In F I'd usually dig in and try something from every course, but on my last couple of international F trips I've just eaten what sounds appealing skipping the occasional course.

On one flight after dining in the lounge I didn't eat anything onboard, went to sleep and just waited until I got to the arrivals lounge. Should I delete my airliners.net account?  Wink

I've only ever paid for Y tickets. Made Gold in March, Diamond in November the same year. Australia/Europe 5 times, Australia - HKG/China three or four additional times.

As for butt hurting - ahem, it can be a little undignified at times, esp when Y is full.

Now that I'm Diamond, I actually get more butt-kissing in Y than J (when I get upgraded). Last trip: Just about the whole Y cabin attendants introduced themselves, secured my meal choice and brought it out before serving anyone else, ushered me to use the J toilet when Y had a big line-up, got me additional magazines from J and could not do more.

When I upgraded to J using miles, they ISM and cabin attendant introduced themselves, but that was the only difference.
