LGW To LHR Transit

Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:59 pm

Hi all

I have a very tight trip to do from NTE to KEF in August on a Sunday. Best fares and schedules seem to be with U2 NTE-LGW arriving at 17.40, FI to KEF departing LHR at 21.30. Any tip on how i can make the transfer, and for how much? And it is doable at all?

Basically can i transfer in 3.50 hrs between flights on a Sunday LGW-LHR

Thanks

Well if no real delays it is possible. Get the coach from the bus station , they go all the time. Last time I paid GBP19 oneway and it took around an hour and 30mins .

As OA260 said, National Express is the best option.
However, 3h50min is going to be a tight one leaving little margin for delays.
Personally I would not go for that connection as there will be no backup if you miss your FI-flight.

Helicopter?  Wink

And now seriously, assuming that there are no accidents on the M25, you should be OK...

Sundays are usually OK, and by the sounds of it you will be travelling at a quiet time. There shouldn't be any issues at those times, but this is the M25 we're talking about!

Its certainly doable, but it may be expensive.
As its a Sunday evening the M25 is unlikely to be busy

If you arrive on time you have the option of National Express which will probably take an hour and a quarter or so, or train and tube via London which is about the same. If you are running short on time you will need to breathe very deeply, dig even deeper in your pocket, arrange for credit facilities and head for the taxi rank.

Sundays should be quiet generally, but the M25 is always busy on that section, even on a sunday, so you can't be 100% sure. It can vary a lot, rarely i get stuck in traffic on sunday but it does happen.

Thanks, I believe I'll stick to the trustworthy TGV and fly CDG-KEF instead. Anyway, should i be sure that a LCC won't change their schedules within the next 6 months? No... Would i be able to complain about that? No...
