New Job At A Pre/post-merger Airline - Bad Idea?

Fri Feb 15, 2008 9:41 pm

I just had a thought - would it generally be considered a bad time or a good time to start working at a pre or post-merger US-based carrier?

For example - joining US Airways now - good or bad?

What about DL/NW? Join DL as the stronger carrier?

CO/UA? Join CO as the more service-oriented and more profitable carrier?

What would you do?

Looking back at AA/TW, joining TWA just prior to the merger would have been a bad decision, based on what we know now.

What about joining US/NW/DL or CO at LHR, for their new UK start-ups next month? Good or bad idea generally?

Any thoughts, facts and opinions are graciously accepted!

I joined CO in the middle of December after B6 gave CMH the shaft and so far it is a great move.
