What To Do At FRA On 3-18-08?

Sat Mar 01, 2008 9:29 pm

I will be arriving at FRA from DTW on NW about 7am on the 18th of March. I will be continuing on to LEJ, on LH, at 1:30pm. The NW segment is award travel so I was unable to book to LEJ from DTW. So I bought a separate ticket on LH. I figure by the time I clear customs and go check in for my next flight I might have some down time. Is there anything at the airport that I should see?

I have never been to FRA before so I don't know much about it. I leave on LH for LEJ at Terminal one, what Terminal does NW come in on?

Any a.netters going to be there on the 18th?

You will arrive at Terminal 2.

There is a McDonalds at Terminal 2 (Follow signs to "Food court" up a flight of escalators) whose seating area is in front of a big glass wall offering views of (parts of) the apron.
Behind the glass wall is a visitors terrace opening up at 1000h (there is a security check involved and the entrance fee is 4 EUR).

In case you already have checked in (at T1) for your flight to LEJ before 1000h, you can head for the visitors terrace and stay there until 1230 pm. 60 Minutes will be enough to head back to T1 on the SkyLine (do not alight at the first stop of T1 where all people get off, but with a BP issued, continue to the second stop. This will save you some walking and the security check up there is almost deserted at all times).

If you care more for some quick Asian food, go to arrival level of T1-B and go outside following signs to "Bus". There is a yellow overseas container not far from the new McDonalds at the bus island across from the terminal.
Keep in mind that this outlet rather likely will accept Euros only, whereas McD at T2 does accept credit cards and also USD in cash.
