Help Booking AMM To CLE

Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:44 pm

Hey everyone,

In May I have to go to TLV and AMM for business and pleasure. I was looking at flights, and here are my final 2 options.

I will be leaving on 5/28/08 and returning on 6/19/08.

1) CLE - TLV via ATL with DL on 772
AMM - CLE via JFK with DL (new service) on 763

2) CLE - TLV via EWR with CO on 772
AMM - CDG with AF on A320
CDG - CLE with CO on 752 (seasonal)

The difference in price is around $400, but i'm only paying 35% so the price is not a problem. I'm having hard time choosing because the return segment from AMM seems exciting. (I'm talking about flying the new service from AMM to JFK on DL and the CDG to CLE segment on a CO 752)

What do you recommend I book? Do you recommend other flights?

I'm Silver Elite on CO, so i prefer Skyteam members.

Cheers,
CO7e7

I'd take Option 2 just to avoid connecting in the mess that DL calls home at JFK. I'd rather transit at CDG than JFK any day of the week.

I would take AA/RJ. I think RJ is a good airline in Y and J. AA flies to JFK and ORD from CLE where you can pick up RJ. RJ also has TLV flights. AA will ticket LY.

I considered this option, but i want to stick with Skyteam because of my Elite status.

Valid point. How likely is it to get caught in one of these looong departure queues at JFK ? While I am not a close friend of connecting at CDG T2, it can be done - and if you allow ample time (90 minutes to my experience) it even falls into category "okay" for me.

AF 0587 0145-0545h arrives T2E
CO 0135 1120-1430h departs T2A
You are sure that you want ot cross the Atlantic ocean in that B752 ?
You are sure that you want to depart in the middle of the night ?

This will be a 6-hour layover at CDG T2 with not too many options to get distracted. Too short to go downtown, long enough to get bored.

Is this a viable connection ? 90 minutes to make the connection and no backup plan (= later flight) if you miss the connection ...
Remember: No big carry-ons on that CRJ-flight possible.

Speaking of timings, personally I would prefer the DL-flight as it leaves around noon rather than in the middle of the night.
(I handn't had a look into the timings of your outbound flights).

I agree wholeheartedly, though I also agree that I would not spend my 6 hours in 2A.

Here's a good one... I haven't priced it, but the flights all operate on the days you want...

CLE-JFK-BUD-TLV on AA/MA going over

AMM-ORD-CLE on RJ/AA coming back. You get a 342 and a 762... two not so common birds (and transferring in BUD is a breeze).

All on a CO-ticket:
Outbound on CO via EWR (either #0624 or #3270)
Return on RJ via ORD flying on a A342.

After further research I decided to purchase this ticket:

CLE-EWR - CO224 on a 735
EWR-TLV - CO84 on a 77E
AMM-CDG- AF587 on a 320
CDG-EWR- CO57 on a 77E
EWR-CLE - CO325 on a 752

Thanks for the inputs !
