Frontier--worth A Try Or Stick To Delta For Miles?

Wed Apr 16, 2008 7:05 pm

I have to make a trip to the Pacific Northwest next week (from ATL) and my options are basically DL or Frontier. I can do DL nonstop, and I would get a sizable chunk of miles on DL, but part of me wants to support Frontier because, though I have never flown with them, I would like to support them because I have heard good things about the company.

Is it worth the "effort" to fly Frontier? I'd love your thoughts.

Well, of course I'm going to say give us a shot! F9 connections at DEN are a snap. You'll also get IFE if you want. Plus you can always sign up for EarlyReturns!  Wink

Depends really how avid you are to collect SkyMiles and what your time is worth to incur a detour via DEN.

Highly worth it. I live in DEN, and fly F9 every chance I get, and have DL on a blacklist. Going to see the "zoo" (Concourse A at DEN) is nice, and connections are phenomenally easy.

Assuming you are from ATL, keep in mind that you can earn FL A+ credits on Frontier flights (assuming you ever patronize FL).

Done...I am flying Frontier (AirTran on the connections between ATL/DEN).

Thanks for your input!

How much are the skymiles worth to you do you fly Delta enough that you might make elite status? Do you have existing miles that might expire if you don't fly soon? Are you close to an award flight and want to use the award ticket for a trip that just cant wait? I fly Delta because my company uses them alot and I live in Salt Lake. I've built status and it comes in handy. I like them well enough especially on the aircraft with the new IFE system. I do like Frontier though and I'd say give them a go if you aren't a hard core flyertalk type mileage runner. I've flown Frontier many times. I like their marketing it's clever, their service is fantastic havent met a bad apple yet, I find the seats very comfy, good IFE like B6 but with a charge.
Enough about flying lets talk about me!

Nope...I don't travel enough to have any status, which makes being in a FF program a bit of a joke save for the occasional free ticket--I have no real privileges because I am always at the bottom of the "status rung" for upgrades and such. I do have enough for a free domestic ticket as it stands, so the miles aren't that critical to me.
