well the VS product was licensed to NZ to use on their 747's and 772's, can't really say much on the VS product , I've only ever flown on the NZ product between the UK and NZ and VV, you get the same seat as in pacific class but a bigger pitch, 37-41 inch's, you also get the same service as in business class, welcome on board drinks, same selection of meals, printed menu's, self service bar, the IFE is the same for all pax's in all classes, except the screen is bigger in business class, oh the other thing is you don't get a full bed like you would up the front.

The product is a very big seller for NZ they have already had to adjust the 744 fleet a couple of times to meet the demand. Another upgrade of the cabins is due to enter service in 2010 when NZ get their 77w's.

As far as the seat and cabin are concerned, VS have the upper hand, wider more spacious seat, However, if it's service that you're after, go with NZ, the catering is greatly superior to VS.

To me it seems like the old VS Y+ is more comfortable than the new one, can anyone confirm?

I'm sure that some will say that the old one is more comfortable, most will say the new one is more comfortable and I should hope so too, Virgin have invested a lot of money and time making sure that the Premium Seat and cabin is an improvement on the last, otherwise what would be the point. I have sat in them on 10+ hour flight to Los Angeles and found them to be very comfortable.

Catering wise it seems from what I read in the TR's on here, NZ wins hands down. They do a wonderful job with their Econ+ inflight product. I know VS has a much more upgraded inflight service in Premium Eco compared to the main cabin.
Check out a couple the TR's written up on NZ's new Premium Y product.
Please let us know what you decide to do....
