Most Traveled US Route In Terms Of Passengers?

Mon Apr 21, 2008 1:42 am

What is the most traveled intra-US roue in terms of passengers flown? I would imagine it would be out of ATL, LAX, ORD, SFO, or any other of the larger airports.

Thanks for answers.

This has been discussed a lot in the past. If you can figure out the search engine (it's annoying sometimes) there are discussions about this, about the most heavily traveled in the world and the history of these routes.

I know we had a long thread last year about this.

For the top US routes - they are one of the things currently being displayed right on the front page of the DOT Transtats web page;

http://www.transtats.bts.gov/

Keep in mind these are city markets - not airport pairs, which if those are used actually make the top #10 look significantly different.

Do you have the link to this thread? The search engine is sort of being a b...h with me.

What I dont get about that pair is how Atlanta and Washington DC DCA and IAD I would imagine is a city pair or ATL-NYC (LGA/JFK and maybe EWR is a pair but its FLL-NYC and not MIA/FLL-NYC or Miami metro area-NYC something like that. ?

Atlanta-Washington are probably busy, as are DL Shuttle's BOS-JFK/LGA? flights.

Atlanta's numbers are artificially inflated due to the way Delta routes their flights through their hub.
It would be interesting to see beginning and ending points of most US passengers.
