United PS Flight On Seat 15F - Good Idea?

Sun Apr 27, 2008 7:24 am

Hello Guys!

I am trying to reserve my seat for my upcoming UA flight to JFK. I am booked on a PS flight and I was wondering if I get a "little" extra legroom if I take 15F (economy plus bulkhead seat). This will be my first time on a UA PS flight so any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jasp-

You going to try for a C or F upgrade, or just Y+?? The bulkhead seats themselves have decent room, just my question to you is, is it more important for you to have better legroom or the seat in the middle open?? If you want a better chance of the B or E middle seat being open, the Y+ seats in the rear of the cabin are better. If you prefer the legroom, stay where you're at.

Hope that helps.

Does the bulkhead Y+ has a bigger legroom than the rest of the Y seats? I never thought about the middle seat... It makes sense that the rear middle seats has more possibiility of being open.. and I like that better. Thanks for that insight.
UA had a major schedule change on two of my ticketed itineraries for next month so I was able to re-route my trip flying 5 legs outbound and 4 segments for the return flight - about 8500+ miles total.
By the way, I am not looking for an upgrade. I am saving my miles for a possible Hawaii trip (East Coast - Hawaii) this coming fall.

What I will do is keep my 15F seat for now and then right before departure, I will check with the kiosk if there is a window seat available at the back of the plane without anyone sitting on the middle then I'll change my seat number.

If you do have a chance to upgrade to J on this route, go for it. It's catered as an international flight. I've flown in J and liked it very much.
I just flew Econ+ LAX-ORD-LAX in the 752 and was very impressed with the amount of legroom given compared to the rest of Econ+ on UA's fleet. Not much of a comparison at all.

I have flown on an internationally configured UA B777 IAD-DEN on J and I liked it a lot! F class was booked up on that flight too -- but for a 3+ hours flight, I dont think a "lieflat" would make a big difference.

They offer the lie flat seats in P because of it being a very specialized product and the majority pay to sit in P compared to cities like ORD, DEN etc., being big upgrade cities. If you do get upgraded you'll be pleasantly surprised with the catering as well. AA has tried to improve their products but haven't done a good job of it. People are still very unhappy with the premium class catering in P & J. Grilled sandwiches in First & Business doesn't cut it for the higher fares they charge on the JFK transcons.
