Natural choice would be SK from (or via) CPH. As you mentioned they fly nonstop to SEA and they also serve IAD from CPH.
If seat comfort is very important, you might want to consider to pay extra for SK's Premium Economy Class.
I've been trying to reads some TR
's about SK
longhaul and I'm getting rather mixed signals. I'll have to look further into that together with ticket price and travel plans to CPH
. Regarding the Premium Economy, it was more then double price, 8k SEK versus 17k, for a trip I used to compare prices. Since it's the rest we're after, I could use the money I save on Y to take a extra day of, get a really nice hotel and just sleep the jet lag off. If i would have been 2k extra, then no that would have been interesting....

I think I'd be inclined to go the NW/KL route. NW's TATL product is pretty darn good, and AMS is a pretty easy place at which to connect. You'd be able to fly the return leg on either NW (BOS, and you could do the 752 TATL thing if you like) or KL (ATL/IAD).
Of course, that doesn't get you longest leg last on the way home, but it seems to meet your other criteria.
Yea this is currently the most interesting alternative. I've read some TR
's on NW
intercontinental and the service seems nice. As Viscount724 said, the A330's are almost brand new and the interior seemed nice.
thing did cross my mind but it was trashed for the same reasons Viscount724 mentioned. But thanks for the idea. After all I did wish for out of the box thinking.
I friend of my flew AF
to NY a while ago and was very pleased with their service. A332 into SEA
, same as NW
, seems nice and 744 out of BOS
would be nice since I haven't been on one. I prefer te 2-4-2 cabin over the 3-4-3, but a 747 is always a 747..
I'll evaluate AF
together with BA
, 777 + 747.

Avoid DL or US carriers if you can - the nonstop to SEA from Europe is vastly superior compared to going through the East Coast.
Besides, going through JFK
adds a couple of hours to the total travel time...
Thanks for the input guys and if someone's got more info or preferences, I'm all ears!
