Continental From IAH - NRT What To Expect?

Fri May 16, 2008 12:28 pm

All,

I'm going to be on Continental flight 7 IAH - NRT in July. What can I expect? Never flown Continental or on a 777(looking forward to it).

Thanks for any info!!

CO as a rule, has clean planes, good staff and decent food. If you're in J, be aware the seats aren't flat. The check in at terminal C is usually fairly painless, but I do recommend on line check in if you can get it, it will save you a good piece of time at the airport. The president club is quite nice, free wi fi, free drinks and snacks, and the 777 usually has AVOD.

The security in C has some line length, as it serves all the CO mainline flights.

Sometimes it is faster to check in at the B terminal (CO Express) and then do security there, and take the airside terminal transfer to C.

Also, if you're not going to be in the lounge, the C terminal has some decent places to eat, get a drink, etc.

If you're a smoker, be aware there is no smoking room in the terminal.

Can I have a mojito on this flight?

It depends what class you are flying the level of service you should expect, as with all flights. You should visit airlinemeals.net as they have pictures of the food on the US-NRT flights in both J and Y. Also, you can look at cabin pictures of the 777 on this website and others.

Food wise, in Y, I find CO's meal service much to be desired. It's not that it's bad, it just has no origionality to it. It is sort of just bleh. CO definitely has its own identity and ambiance on its planes and in the whole experience itself, but it just is not as noticable as with airlines such as EK or AF. J meals should be very good though. Honestly, if you really wanted me to explain, I had a lot of issues with the meal on my EWR-HKG J flight. But all pickyness aside, the meal was very good. It is a hit or miss with AVOD. There is a good chance you will not get it. Only 8 or so out of 20 planes have it. It is key though to a good flight in Y, at least for me.

Do not check in for NRT at Terminal C...... no

International check-in has to be done at Terminal E! The pasted text below is from the CO website:

Departing Passengers
In conjunction with the opening of the new International Arrivals Building, customers traveling to international destinations on Continental or Continental Express will be required to check-in for their international flights at Terminal E where Continental is expanding its convenient electronic self-service options.

The security lines at Terminal E are all but nonexistent for most of the day, and your flight to NRT departs and arrives at Terminal E just about if not every day.
