Sat May 17, 2008 2:09 pm

Hey guys.
I was just wondering on getting your views of what you think is better.
Emirates or Etihad Airways?

Thanks.
Kind Regards

Etihad are a much smaller more controllable airline, where as Emirates ahve ow gotten so huge their product is beginning to become inconsiste in some places. But with EY growing all the time they will face similar problems.

Thats the opinion I form from working at the airport and from reading trip reports on here etc.

I would say Etihad based on the fact that they still seem to care about their customers as much as they did when they started out.

Having been on both my vote is for Etihad. The seats are more comfortable and they still have time for you. The only downside is AUH but the journey will be better with them. The Inflight entertainment was very good and the food also so go EY not EK

Yep its already happening. At first I heard great feedback on the DUB-AUH and onwards , recently its a mixed bag as I have stated on the Irish threads. A colleague of mine is flying to Australia in J class next week so I will get another report back then.

Of EK and EY, I prefer EY, particularly on its 345.

Found EK fine. Will fly them again to get on the 380.

EK's service inconsistency is entirely deliberate. They have premium routes (where they are good) and other routes (where they are average). Nonstops from the US and Australia to DXB are premium services, with premium onboard products. DXB-India and SE Asia are mostly non-premium, and are a lot less good.

I've had 4 EY flights, none were particularly good though 2 flights were ok, IFE very patch as were FA's.

Not flown EK and don't plan to, too many bad TR's about.

Of the 2, I'd take EY.

If you're referring to service, EY has 9-abreast Y class seating on 777s, not 10-abreast like EK. That would be enough to make me prefer EY if they both had competitive schedules and flights were operated by 777s. As far as I know, business class products on many of EK's older aircraft also aren't up to EY's standards.
