Fastest ULH Flying Today

Thu Jun 19, 2008 12:47 am

Who knows if the A340 is transonic? I suppose with a strong tailwind and low fuel perhaps in a power dive. Does B73ER come close to the Frog when balling it out at FL410? Rolls Royce or GE. Who else makes high bi-pass turbofan engines,United Technolgies Indiantown FL had a plant there.

B-747 has the highest speed at altitude of any commercial a/c presently in service, if you regard her as a ULH you have your answer, confirm with a google search.

It's transonic. Transonic starts at about 0.8 M airspeed.
