What To Expect From CO 737 Business Class Service

Tue Jun 24, 2008 3:22 am

Hey Guys,

I will be travelling SJO-EWR-BOS-IAH on 737-800 and IAH-SJO on 737-900 (hopefully ER) on business class. It is my first time flying in business class and just want to know what to expect here in terms of comfort, foods, beverages and any other thing I would not receive in coach.

Thanks for the help!
Tomas.

Free drinks, food, movies, pillows and blankets are what you get on CO. It's decent. The 800s are ok. If you get on the 900ER, the first class seats are a bit more modern, although comfort wise they are about the same.

You get more legroom, but no legrest. It's decently comfortable and a lot nicer than economy.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I'll be flying it tomorrow. You will have great food, good service. Some of the planes will have IFE, some won't. Free drinks, roomy seats, icecream. If I have time I will do a trip report tomorrow.

didn't know their 737s had business class...
Last year 1,944 New Yorkers saw something and said something.

The 800's have overhead LCDs.
Check seatguru.com and pick your favorite seat. I think CO has 4 versions of the 738 thou.

Does the 737-900ER have audio/video installed? I thought I read on here (of course if they do that may be the problem) that they were delivered without it in preparation for the liveTV roll out next year.
I know the voices in my head aren't real but sometimes their ideas are just awesome!!!

Nope.

It's marketed as business on international flights, but it's the same cabin as domestic first. They couldn't really market it as an international first product, for obvious reasons.

You should have a very pleasant flight. CO is my favorite carrier, and on the occasions when I've been upgraded to the forward cabin, I've never been let down.

Note, your 739ER will have no entertainment what so ever..... heads up...

I believe they are waiting for LiveTV or something similar. So instead of installing an a/v system and then removing it in a few years, they are waiting. It saves weight and money.

That's correct. With LiveTV on the way, Continental chose to not waste labor, fuel, and installation/purchase cost on fitting the old system. Which is great, on one hand, but a real bummer if you get stuck flying in one now!

Does anybody know what routes these '9ERs are on? I haven't found one in the schedule yet.

I flew from Hawaii to Hong Kong on CO Mike's Island Hopper with stops in GUM, ROR, and YAP. I'd assume that the service is the same as that "International Business (C)" as opposed to "BusinessFirst (J)." They'll have champagne and in my experience be a little bit more polished than they are as a domestic First flight. It should be pretty similar though, Continental has a great product up front.

I spent about 25 hours in that product and was never uncomfortable and even found it pleasant.
