Going Nowhere ... Sort Of

Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:28 pm

Given all the gloom and doom, a few light-hearted posts might not hurt.

In another thread, Brons2 suggested the route MHT-MAN. With a bit of a stretch you could say that MME-CLE would be going from Cleveland to Cleveland.

Any other examples?

This is a REAL stretch, but MOB-1AZO would be Mobile, AL-Mobile, AZ.

MME-RDU would be Durham-Durham
GLA-GGW Would be Glasgow to Glasgow
BAK-EDI would almost be Edinburgh to Edinburgh
YXU-LHR/LTN/LGW/LCY/STN would be London to London
APF-NAP would be Naples to Naples

If domestic US counts
BAK-CMH would be Columbus to Columbus

I'm sure there are many more examples.

In the old days, if one flew SAN-STL-MSP on TWA, one could fly from Lindbergh Field to the Lindbergh Terminal on the Lindbergh Line.

If one was able to fly BFL-ONL, you would be flying from Bakersfield to Baker Field in O'Neill, Nebraska.

CDG/ORL - PRX = Paris, France, to Paris, Texas.

ANU - SJF - YSJ - YYT = St John's, Antigua, to St John's, Virgin Islands, to St John, New Brunswick, to St John's, Newfoundland.

SYD - YQY That's Sydney, Australia to Sydney, Nova Scotia

I didn't put EWR because that's New Jersey, even though it seems like its New York.

Quoting Ota1 (Reply 8):
SYD - YQY That's Sydney, Australia to Sydney, Nova Scotia

And it could include a stop at SDY (Sidney, Montana....spelled with an "i").

Also, BHM to BHX, Birmingham to Birmingham.
