ANC Service In August (Class Question)

Fri Jul 11, 2008 1:45 pm

Hi All,

First of all thanks in advance for your responses and help. I am planning a trip from my home base of TVC to ANC to visit family in early August, and mom+dad are paying for half the ticket- the coach fare on NWA is about $950. Looking at First fares, they only run $1,000 more, around $1,900-$2,000. I've got the money put away, and have nothing else to blow it on, so I'm considering going in F. Specifically, I'm looking at leaving Aug. 3 and returning Aug. 10.

From Orbitz.com:
NWA: via MSP- $1,947
DL: via CVG- $1,947
AA: via ORD and DFW- $2,050
UA: via DEN and SFO- $2,309
(Or UA via DEN for $4,302)
Alaska: via ORD and SEA- $4,614

I would prefer to go on a shorter flight- the DL option TVC-CVG-ANC looks good, instead of something like the UA option through DEN and SFO. Using seatguru.com, I compared the options and I found Delta has four kinds of 757s- specifically I was looking for the 757 on the CVG-ANC sector. Will it have plain seats like on the 757-200 (2-Class), 757-200 Transcon (with video and AC Power at each seat), or will it be one of the ex-TWA Versions (One with old and one with new Business Elite seats)?

On the other hand, from Delta.com it finds a Canadair to CVG, MD-88 to ATL and 767-400ER to ANC for $1,949. Will this be the 767-400ER or the 767-400ER Trans?

Would going on AA or UA 757s have any more amenities than DL? I'm looking specifically for Laptop power and video, which counts NWA out. I've checked AA, UA, DL's websites and seatguru but get lost at the different versions with no way to easily identify between the two.

Thanks again,
